mot woes

Well after sitting listening to the exhaust I thought I recognise the sound it's making, after spending most of my youth polluting the atmosphere with 2 strokes it's pretty obvious now, it's running rich, this may explain my thermostat issue i have or thought I had. Sometimes when clearing the misfire codes it does sometimes have lambda codes, so as I'm changing the cat I'm also changing the lambda as a matter of course I'm hoping this will clear the problem. Checked the coil pack with the multimeter , all OK. I have even swapped the plugs, my god I have never fitted so many new parts in such a short time before, but then it doesn't get much spent on it so I had it coming. Parts arrived so far_ cat and spring compressor, yes I know they will come out without them but I will be doing this solo so any aides are a must. Just hope there is room to get them on the springs, after looking at the spring on the drivers side I'm ashamed I have allowed it to get that bad, last time I was under there they didn't seem that bad.

the only part im not looking forward too is getting under the car, it will be on ramps but i still feel unsafe and really dont like it at all.
I'm getting under mine over the weekend to sort out the corrosion on my rear suspension arms/subframe that was advised on my MOT last weekend. I bought me some of those wide plastic car ramps and I've got a couple of sets of axle stands but even so, I'm still a bit wary of lying on my back under a 1.5t lump of steel. I do it most days at work without giving it a second thought but somehow it feels different in my own garage, so I empathise with you Jason @littlefeller

yes the clock is ticking, some of the parts (rear springs) wont arrive till wed-Thursday, then it needs re-moting all before the 9th.
Just ask @ Faheem about that! He has had the experience!! JIM
are you safe with a band saw?yeh but i have a steel band saw where i will be doing the work

well, fitted the new lambda, still getting the same error code, it says o2 sensor heater - no signal, it would appear to be maybe an electrical issue, this is why its running the way it is. somehow need to figure how to find the problem.

seems like there may be a break in the cable somewhere.... can you follow the o2 sensor cable back to see if its healthy or is there any indication as to where it goes... probably goes back to the ecu
so just looking seems like there should be a voltage going to the o2 sensor heater, and then a return voltage back which is the measuremnt of oxygen if that makes sense... i am by know means an expert but...i will have a look to help.
looks as though there could be relay or a fuse associated with the heater circuit... wonder if its a blown fuse or a nakkud relay not sending power to the 02 heater...
a fuse was my though too, but having spent an age going through the Bentley manual i cant find a fuse associated with it.
