The only time we use 0w oil here is when the temps drop into the -20-40c range as it makes turning a cold engine over easier on the starter. I don't think you should have a need for it overvin the UK. I would think that 5w would be the lightest you'd ever need there. But could it be responsible for all your problems on its own, I doubt it! JIM

an update, 3 emissions test this morning, passed on the final test, not sure how. still failed the mot though as it has now desided it would be a good time to break a front spring:mad:
as for the emissions, not sure what is wrong here, seems i didnt need that cat after all, i watched the readouts as it was on the test, its all over the place like it has a vacuum leak but i just cant find it, smoke test it is i think.

still error free, really odd, maybe unplugging and re-plugging the lambda has done something, but i still think the lambda codes are related to the misfire. the misfire codes have now disappeared for now but then i havnt put that much mileage on it yet. job for this weekend is to find that leak, i did have the intake apart a while a go while messing with the cam sensor, now wondering if it leaking at the joint, maybe i got some grit on it? though after watching the co readings it would seem to be quite a leak. i will build my own smoke tester from an electric shisha which i have left over from the last time i tried to quit smoking (it almost worked, managed about 5 months, will have to try again)

If it is the alignment of your upper intake that's causing the misfire codes would be interesting as I've had mine out 5 or 6 times now whilst messing about with the cam sensor.

I read somewhere that the vacuum created in the sump causes the piston rings to seal better so if there is a leak it could maybe cause problems? I also read somewhere a often overlooked place is the oil level tube being blocked or the O ring at the bottom leaking.
Sorry just a thought.......

It all helps, gives me more stuff to check over and thus eliminating them.
