MOT Pass

You could always use a different test garage. There’s no loyalty nowadays so have a word with a few local ones and use the one that’s singing from the same page as yourself.

Indeed. But moving comes with its own risks.

And this is a) more of a dig at the MOT for not enforcing consistent standards and b) a warning for the OP.

And I otherwise have a good relationship going back many years. They maintain my daughter’s C2 as I have no time for it. And do odds and ends for me on the Z3s like wheel and headlamp alignment. And will bend over backwards to fit a car in, explain things to me and correct any issues. Not much of that around elsewhere these days.

I don't have any issue with advisories. They are "monitor and repair if necessary", no more. I welcome a comprehensive annual report on my 20 year old cars. Very few cars of this age will be truly "no advisories".:)

If you’re keeping your car that’s fair enough. But if you are selling some people freak when they see the MOT history.

Strange, I didn't get any advisories on my 2.8 :D

Must say the MOT system in this country is wide open to abuse from unscrupulous garages. OK, you can complain if you think they are just touting for business, but the issue is still there. I don't know about other countries, but in Spain the ITV (their MOT) is carried out by government testing stations which do nothing else so there is no question of bias. Seems a much better system to me .

I've been banging that drum for 40 years Ken, nothing will change anytime soon mate.
The Republic of Ireland had the same/similar system, I considered moving there some years ago as their Government were offering silly wages to clear a huge backlog of testing after a dispute.

Tony.
