MOT Pass

This is how it should look mate, if you take a look at your it will probably look like its hanging with the outer top and bottom rubber almost gone, both my Zds looked like that and @Bozzy is just as bad

Good reference pic mate, cheers

Congratulations Andy, now you need to go and polish it again. =))

Great news Andy i can vouch for the beam bushes it would be a worthwile job it is surprising the difference they make when everything sits where its suppose to !!
I went for a lift kit on mine as it removes wheel camber and tyre wear on a lowered car..
12mm lift on the bush andthen a 12mm drop on the diff, works well:)

Good stuff Andy.
As for the emmisions would say exactly what Tony had said Lambda a little high but
Co (carbon monoxide ) levels good and
Hc ( Hydrocarbons ( unburnt fuel ) ) also good .

Yep it's on the list of jobs to be done @Sean d, just waiting for Mr. T to retire and then all being well it'll be one of the first beam bush jobs at the M.Z.S. :).

Then once you have done a few you could arrange a road trip to Scotland to help me with mine :whistle:

At least you could pre prep the beam and swap out the bushes it would make it a quicker swap only swing arm bushes to swap and bolt back to it

:reindeer: happy days :D

MOTs are becoming very cruel for older cars. 'Rear suspension arms corroded but not seriously weakened'. That makes it sound, completely unfairly, like the car is rotting away.

The reality is it will just have some surface rust. Very unhappy with my regular test station for starting to do this to me. Last year 1 advisory for fuel straps. This year an additional 8 for anywhere there are spots of rust. It's the same car, in the same condition but a new MOT tester and tougher rules this year. But mainly the former in my view.

I'm going to be painting the trailing arms & axle carriers on my cars from now on. Well and fuel straps, sill area, springs and shocks if required They are all fair game for advisories. The garage have also agreed to do a dummy MOT for me so I have the chance to remedy advisories as well as fails to keep the MOT record clean.

I'll bet my house on the fact there are Z3s out there with much more severely affected components than ours and that won't get an advisory. In other words, yes general toughening of standards but inconsistent interpretation of the rules are the bigger culprit for me.
