Monkey Machine

Just been reading this thread not sure how I missed it. @machine monkey are you sure your human ;) Very impressive stuff

Not wrong Tony that saying gets used a lot in my profession!!!
Mine too mate.=)) Another one, in case you've never heard it is, " a blind man on a galloping horse would never spot that!"

Tony.

I see said the blind man to his dead son comes to mind!! Nice work on the exhaust @ machine monkey and even better on the new addition. Always enjoy family pics from members, gives an insight into their lives outside of the Zed connection!! You must be so proud!! JIM

Hi Forum Friends.

Sorry for not posting in so long. Life has been crazy busy. The mini monkey is doing well walking and starting to talk. She hates sleeping witch is obviously tough on me and Mrs Monkey. But all is well.

Now my silly z4 rear mount turbo build!!! Well it runs. Had a few problems with the oil feed. Witch i hope are now resolved. I was basically supplying far too much pressure to the turbo and it was leaking past the seals. Luckily i have a Holset turbo as i just stripped cleaned and reassembled and its fine. So i have now modified the blead off line and reduced the feed line to a an3 from an6

Secondly the piggyback was rubbish and we just couldn’t get it working. And the support was not that great and it ran of software Isambard Kingdom Brunel would have understood. So that’s being resigned to the B1N file. So i found myself in a stick situation. Get the standard ECU to run the system. But a few people who would even touch this type of work said a standalone ECU would probably end up cheaper and work better. Now the problem with a standalone ECU is they start at a grand. And you don’t want one of them for a 6 cylinder car so it’s about £1500. And then you looking at lots of some very talented person’s time to connect it up and get it working.

Everything on these cars goes through the ECU. Air con ABS T/C the dials fuel gauge. all the important stuff even lights and the warning light to say the boot is open. Now i could live with the boot not telling me it was open. I am sure i could remember to shut that!! But obviously i don’t want the ECU to just run my engine. Basically the cost then doubles and you’re looking at about 3k Money i just don’t have....

But I think i have done a deal and found a fantastic solution. A company called SCS delta https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&r...delta.co.uk/&usg=AOvVaw0Y-8ZWX5gwD3mDNs1EjlI1 do a plug and play ECU for the e46 330 same engine different ECU so not plug and play fpor our cars.. But as it stands they will be taking my car and using it as a development car. So there soon will be a plug n play ECU for the e85 3.0 cars. The goal is buy there extremely powerful 800 series ECU and the right connector block plug it in and you now have a much better fully programmable ECU. It is 15 years new design and we know how far computers have come in that time. It will plug in and your car works as before. But now if you have any plans to mod your car? You are not held back at all by the BMW software.

the 330 kits are £1200 they also run a map sensor so you can ditch the restrictive and delicate MAF

I will keep you all posted. But fingers crossed it should be running and driving. But only on low boost

Nice to hear you're making progress Mat. Also that the youngster is coming on well too.:)

Tony.

ps. We're your ears burning? Me and Mike were only talking about you on Saturday.

Also not sure where i was upto with the picture updates. I will stick a load up now. The car is all but done apart from this new ecu mapping shake down testing and then tidying lots of things up. But thats next years project. Some panels need paint dash needs fixing. And i need to instal a tablet where the nav used to be. The tablet will be used for displaying ecu information. I may also be able to ditch the gauges in the dash now? Not sure about that just yet.
