mad mods

Not a bad job Geoff once the cluster is removed the front is just attached with screws from the rear the clocks and circuits stay put its just the bezel that comes off

If i remember correctly just two screws up top of binnacle and its a push fit location at the bottom.

Does the cluster just unscrew from the front ?

Yes 2 torque screws at the top but the cluster can be tight to get off, I use a small sucker to pull it forward, its a lot easier with the steering wheel off, once the cluster is out there are 5 small torques in the back, once removed the cluster will split, then you need to twist 3 retaining clips through 180 degrees, this will allow the dials to come off and give you access to the front via the dial holes, you can't remove the clear front.

yep a pain in the. wouldn't it be so much better if the glass could be removed.

A Dremmel and cutting disc makes the clear piece come off very easily. Clear or black silicon will stick it back on too.

Tony.

i had considered this and as e36 pods can be picked up for around £15 seems like a better option, if cut in the right place it may still be how i go about it, depending on how fiddly it is to get 3 pieces together through the holes, would be simpler to get one piece in through the front.

Been a bit tied up with work, had a massive Iceland project then just had that had ended (for now) a John Lewis project landed on my desk. Unfortunately zed has been off the road, new discs have arrived and awaiting fitting, zedfest cough me out a bit as I thought it was bank holiday weekend, low rider did message me but after dropping my phone in the bath I couldn't reply ( messaged me the day before, damm i thoight it was next weekend) though I still couldn't go as I have a knocking coming from the drivers side rear disc, excuses excuses. I did strip the caliper last weekend and drove it all day Saturday and was fine, but the discs are proper knackered. I have a squeeky polly bush too, very annoying. I think this year I have done about 500 miles in the zed (I brought a second car to keep the milage of the zed) this may have been a mistake as if I hadn't I would have been forced to fix it earllyer, though I can say that the zed battery will still start the car after it had stood for 5 weeks. @hard top I missed you too☺ now I'm back.

Not a mad mod but mad how bad I have let these get, all done at the rear. Clinking now gone, the two spring loaded studs had pulled through, Now time for some driving
