it kinda errr fell, yes that will do - fell into my boot today.
the idea is although i wont use the rack much as the boot i find is big enough for me, it does give me somewhere to stow a flat tyre if i get one.
some small mods to it first.

question now is - do i fit it as permanent, or mod it to be detachable and keep it inside the boot for a flat tire carrier (it does lie flat in the boot)

guess i need to update this now, mirror has changed, power feed for the cam has been upped to power a satnav,
new mirror.

didnt take pics of the power feed, i may get the chance at the weekend but i cant open the small plastic box the gubbins went into as i silicon-ed them in and sealed it.
latest stuff is a new windblocker (been discussing this with low rider for a couple of days as a joint project).

The wind blocker is along the lines that I was thinking, but I couldn't source the profile for it to slide in, where did you get it if you don't mind me asking.

its an aluminium extrusion, it was holding a 6mm acrylic sign until i liberated it and gave it a more interesting life, i will see if i can get more, should be able to, it was sitting on top of one of those posts with the pull out strap that connects to the next post to form a barrier, (like the rat obstacle course you find in banks). i have put an angle in my wind blocker which makes it not possible to just lift out as the sides are not verticle like the base edge.
