Hi folks - I've made some excellent progress rehabbing the Z (with help from you guys), but am stuck stuck stuck on the A-pillar issue. The right hand side is clogged and I can't seem to make any progress in unclogging it. I've searched high and low, and tried the following: soapy water, compressed air, plastic tube from from spray can. There's clearly something in there that doesn't want to budge. I'd tried a stiff wire, which worked somewhat, but also poked a tiny hole in the rubber. Please, voices of experience, share your wisdom!

Do you have a picture of the part you have a problem with? The channel drain behind the the A pillar is only a small bleed drain of minimal length and should be easily cleared. The normal problem is the sealing of the triangular bung at the top of the A pillar - there is no drain from this.

Strimmer wire makes a great tool for clearing the drain.

The small bleed drain is what I'm talking about (pic below). I've already sealed up the triangular bung. I can tell the drain isn't working since after a rain there's enough water sitting near the drain (about a 1/2 teaspoon) to spray around when the door is slammed.

By the way, how long is the drain? Should I be able to get the trimmer line down the length of the whole a-pillar? Maybe further? I guess the real test will be whether anything comes out of the drain at the bottom of the car.

You will need a good 2-3ft of strimmer wire, I used the thicker stuff, you can push this all the way down to the bottom.
