Just landed.

They don't have guttering in most cases over here Dave it would be pointless as it wouldn't cope with the amount of rain that comes down. It would just overflow against the building and make the walls wet. Instead they allow it to run straight off onto the ground.

Tony.
Welcome to my side of the Pond!!!! I've been off the forum for a few days and didn't know that you've arrived. Hope the flight was good. I can imagine how you were anxious for the flight to end so you could get to the house, drop off the luggage and go to Denny's to relax in the warmth at your favorite restaurant with your favorite meal there and enjoy the surroundings. I know how enjoyable it is to get to a tropical destination. You get off the plane, the sun is so warm, you're looking at palm trees, the sky is so blue and although I know you have a bit of work aheag of you, there's plenty of time to relax, enjoy the pool and your friends there, and no having to go to the shop. It just does wonders for the mind and soul. Glad you're there and hope you enjoy it..................Frankie

As promised by the weather people, normal service is resumed this morning at 8.25.

Snowbird
Elderly people who travel to Florida during the winter months. They arrive after Thanksgiving, go home for Christmas and come back the day after New Years and stay until Early April.

They clog the restaurants and the roads (driving 20mph under the limit) and love to pull out in front of you when there's no one behind you. Anyone growing up in Central and South Florida will have the opportunity to learn what all the license plates of the US and Canada look like. Only benefit is these people bring their money and stimulate the economy.
Kid: "Dad why did that old man from NY just pull out in front of us and drive slow?"
Dad: "Son, its wintertime in Florida, that is a snowbird"

:D

Get something similar round here, we call them "tourists". Clog up the roads, the towns, the shops, can't go anywhere without staring at their sat-nav, and avoid all eye-contact when you meet them down our narrow windy country lanes. Tw@s. And they have to brake heavily for every bl**dy bend.:banghead:

While I was watching the turtles I was standing very close to a tree, a great big Eagle dropped onto the water only a few yards in front of me to grab a fish from the lake. If you expand the 1st picture you can pick out the bird against the trees across the lake.

You’ll probably find that Turtle soup is the ‘Special’ on the menu at Denny’s tonight.
