Hi Kevin, and welcome from Cardiff. Enjoy the forum.
Yes, so true!!Mine's daily use car too mate and it's about the only thing that makes going to work bearable if I'm honest.

Thanks Ray, will look at getting a replacement,Hello. The key has a rechargeable battery that charges from the ignition and the rechargeable battery may have failed.
to the forum from me too in Staffordshire. Thanks Tony, weird thing is that I know the seller bought a new key for the car last year but did not give it over, so the key is an original one when the car was new. It was a 500 mile drive to get the car home, so should have charged up, so looks like a replacement battery and a new key from BMW (after pay day!!) is in order. It could be that the seller has only just started to use this key for some reason. The way I understand it is you should rotate the use of your keys to keep them "charged".
Tony.

Why did he not want to give you the "new" key Kev, seems very strange to me, I would be making sure the car is secure (but then I can be very suspicious) lol. Thanks Tony, weird thing is that I know the seller bought a new key for the car last year but did not give it over, so the key is an original one when the car was new. Thanks Tony, true, but he has a long drive (500 miles or so) to get to me and the car in a garage. Does seem strange as the key would be useless to him.....Why did he not want to give you the "new" key Kev, seems very strange to me, I would be making sure the car is secure (but then I can be very suspicious) lol.
