Hi all, just a quick update for those wishing to attend Tony's funeral.
Shirl has informed the Coroners are involved so unfortunately this has slowed down things considerably. As soon as I have the date I will post it up on a seperate thread.
Thanks.

I met Tony a couple of times on my trips north.
He helped me a lot in my early Z3 days both in person and via chat. We met up a couple of times for a cup of tea and a biscuit whilst I was on my travels.
I found Tony to be immensely welcoming, incredibly knowledgable, enthusiastic, encouraging and most of all patient.
Anyone I have met through ZEDonist has heard me talk about T-Tony with immense positivity and respect. It’s largely thanks to Tony and Lee that I had the knowledge and confidence to fettle.

I’m utterly gutted. Tony will be sorely missed but he will never be forgotten by anyone here.

He helped me a number of times with issues I had and so sorry to hear of this. He will be missed :-( He was always a gentleman when I dealt with him and always had time to help no matter how small the issue was. Sadly only just heard about this.

Here’s one that portrays one of the very early meet ups with Tony from L-R, myself, Tony, Ant and Andygym. Think it’s around early 2015 all four of us were getting to know each other after some banter on here, could even be the first meet up and actual eye contact.(sorry if I’m not precise but start of my memory lapse playing up has come to rest at my home(or probably not me but the boss taking advantage)

Very funny outcome for Tony and me as the people at the opposite table claimed to be Ant and Andy’s bothers, however the landlord informed me that they were actually travellers and best we make a quick exit. Maybe Ant or Andy can put me right on this meet-up.???

I only have great memories of Tony who well and truly made me feel like part of the Zed community.

Not only did he teach me a lot about the Zeds but also gave me the confidence to work on cars as he gave many of us a workshop and a guiding hand on the weekends in the Midlands.

Sending lots of love to the whole family

What do I say about Tony, a man who touched so many peoples’ lives, both online and in real life? The shock of learning Tony has passed over has delayed my adding my tribute to him and through tears I write...

Tony was a genuinely good man.

His warmth, his welcoming good nature, never patronising, always enthusiastic, his sense of humour and fun, his generosity with his time and knowledge, his never-ending patience (he taught me how to do a full service and a great deal more about my Z), his kindness, his love for Shirl, Abi, Gary and his grandchildren shone for all to see and his general good demeanour will leave a void in all the lives of the people and friends he touched.

Tony: one of a kind. A truly good man who leaves a legacy of kindness and generosity. He will be very much missed and always remembered with love and fondness.

Lots of love to Shirl, Abi, Gary and the grandchildren at this very sad and difficult time.

To Tony: you're with Carla now who will have welcomed her Daddy along with those who have passed before your journey.

May God keep you safe in His care.

Rest in Peace, Tony.

A few photos of the man himself, doing what he loved doing: solving mechanical problems and enjoying craic.

I'm a little late to add my words as I'm only a very occasional visitor to the forum these days. Thanks Dawn for letting me know of the sad news.

I joined the forum in 2016 and Tony was a stand-out personality and expert from the start. He was certainly a mechanical expert but for me being a lovely guy will be always be far more important. I've benefited from his knowledge and kindness both through the forum directly and PMs many times over the years.

After a very long lay off from the Z3s my lad and I started again in late April. We've often been working on the cars over the years and he'll say to me "that's a tricky one, what are we going to do about that" and I'll say "we'll give x a go". And he'll say "is that a t-tony special". And the irony is that little conversation was repeated again for the first time after our 3+ years away around the very days Tony sadly left us.

Sometimes that knowledge was just common practice that Tony patiently passed on dozens of times to newcomers. Or sometimes it was little gems I wouldn't have thought of in a million years. Either way lots of my knowledge has been informed by Tony.

So we shall fondly remember Tony every time we use a "t-tony special" :)

Yes a great day, was it the day we first met at that lay-by,
cos I’m having a job recently with detailed memory.
Anyway so glad you replied, top man even if you do use Brillcream. Lol
