Typical of Tony, when I spoke to him recently and he explained the situation at the time he didn't want me to tell anybody so I respected his confidence. He didn't want a fuss, but I thought it was a matter of another operation, I wasn't expecting this. So sad, as others have said, he was always on hand to give help and advice. Obviously very ill, he still had to make light of things and regarding his 17 year old replacement heart valve said, 'Can't get owt to last these days'. We'll all miss his humour and friendly banter. Sincere condolences to Shirl and all the family. Ken & Sharon.

Condolences to the family and his friends on here. I was in contact with Tony a few times over the years by PM and always found him more than helpful.

I'm another one who's never met him in person, only know him through his posts on here ~ a great loss to our community

Condolences to his family
My thoughts, and I'm sure the thoughts of many on here.

The internet is full of people we do not meet, yet whose knowledge, humour and wisdom we appreciate. t-Tony was one such person.

A sad day.

I can’t quite take it in that Tony’s gone.
He was still giving helpful messages as recently as last Friday, with no hint that anything was wrong.
I only met him once at a Zedfest but he greeted me like a long lost friend.

He was such a huge part of what makes this community so great.

RIP my friend, you’ll be missed.

Stunned to read this very sad news, Tony was a very friendly chap and full of good advice for members. Met Tony at Newark air museum, I think he was with Grumps at the time. His presence is going to be on here.
He was indeed Mark 👍🏼

Such a sad thread to read my condolences to Shirl and the rest of the family .
Had the privilege of meeting Tony a few times at Zedfest and with him being a retired Mot tester and me still active we have spoken a number of times over my 9 yr on the forum he will be a big loss to the community on here and to all who knew him sadly due to work clashes never made one of Tony's cruises but did get the honour of meeting him he will be sadly missed.

I’ve not been on this forum for some time and heard this terrible news from Mazza today. I knew Tony had heart problems and used to joke with me about his pigs heart valve, I have some cow in me. He seemed to take it all in his stride and was an inspiration.
I found Tony was always helpful with any car related problem. His Torskey Lock cruises were the best.
He will be sadly missed, a real gent. Condolences to Shirley and all of the family. RIP Tony.

I never met Tony in person, but on numerous occasions he has helped me out, either through the forum or via PMs.
He was so generous with his time and experience of all things Zed.
Please pass on my deepest condolences to his family,
Ken

Haven't been on the Forum for a day or so, I read this when out at the pub tonight, had to do a double take, couldn't believe what I was reading.
Never met Tony in person, but were were both of a similar age and outlook, often commenting on each others posts.
Sincere condolences to Shirl and family.
Tony was one in a million, a fountain of knowledge on Z's and cars in general, he will be missed by all on this Forum.
RIP Tony

I read this this morning as I was getting ready for work and couldn't decide what to say and have thought about it a lot during the course of the day. Not only am I very saddened to hear that such a wonderfully valued man has passed away - but I feel like I knew him, I've racked my brain and I know I met Shirley once delivering parts at the side of a road on my way 'up north' years ago. But I'm not convinced I met Tony more than once, yet I feel he was very much a friend. The power of the internet/forums/social media is deeper than we think and the bonds we form with complete strangers is amazing. Tony was a man with such a heart and pride in his family and cars. We will all miss you Tony, you really remind me of my dad.
