Was planning to jet wash the Z and give it some proper cleaning before removing the hardtop (spring time yeeeeaaa). But it seems the rain will keep on falling for the whole following week…

so went back home and was looking so sad, that my very significant other decided to make me a Greek omelette for breakfast.
I think that I have to share this delicious recipe… I may be way off the limits for an automotive forum, but from what I understand you Shed days could become much more tastier if you decide to do this.
so…
4 minced tomatoes
40 grams of butter
5 eggs
salt
sugar
pepper
olive oil.

low heat the tomatoes in a pan and add sugar and butter. stir

till they become a thick paste.

then add the eggs and keep stiring

add a little olive oil (six to seven table spoons)
and let the eggs rest a while until they stop sizzling

serve in a deep dish.
you can add extra oil if you want, but you will also need some slices of thick bread to absorb it.

easy recipe, takes less than 10 minutes and gives you all the energy boost you need for a garage day.
cheers
(delete if totally off the concept of this forum).

That looks worth trying, maybe add some olives?
definitely. This is the basic recipe.
you can add olives, crumbles of feta cheese, green peppers, anything
many people start the recipe with caramelised onions and then add all the rest ingredients.
in some areas they also add sausages or smoked meat.
in the islands they add anchovies and boiled octopus…
it is just a matter of how much time you want to spend preparing this.
you can even start with fried potatoes in the pan, drain the oil, keep the fries and start from there this recipe.

Breakfast? I am going to have it for lunch today, with a little 🍷

For lunch I am having toasted bread with olive oil and oregano, baked potatoes and two gilt-head breams. And Ouzo…
I am not a big eater, so the scrambled eggs do me fine. But, I always considered Ouzo to be a kind of "digestive" after the meal, not part of the main action...

Did I get it wrong?

Well, I had the same impression when I first came to Greece, but later on I discovered that there are many types of Ouzos.
The most common is indeed used as an aperitif, but it is water diluted and usually has an abv about 35 to 40%. This version has a light taste of anise and sometimes cinnamon. One of these is the famous No12
I personally prefer the Pitsiladi version, its production begins with the soaking of aniseed and grain seeds in sea water and distillation in old copper stills over a fire with olive wood, and is spot on with a seafood/fish menu.

Can I send a bottle over for you to try? I wonder what is the law now regarding taxes and import in UK after the Brexit thing….

Posting liquids is very frowned upon.

Tony.

Yeah, pretty much what Tony said.

But, since I love Greek and Mediterranean food in general, next time I visit the country I will ping you (if you don't mind?).

It will be a pleasure!
But I have to warn you, my wife is from Crete and these guys consider feeding you to death as good hospitality… so in this family, this is what a typical dinner preparation looks like…
