They are not Z3 specific ones are they? It looks like the inner ring has been bent slightly when its been pushed in, which could have broke the CCFL tube. They are very fragile and break easy, I know from experience :whistle:

I have 2 new CCFL spares for the inner rings which are made for Z3 headlight's if you want them? They may not be as bright I can't remember what they are like and I don't think I have any inverters to test them, but if you want them give me a shout. Or try some LED ones, they need cutting down but are very bright and will last a lot longer than the CCFL ones.
Yeah I think I mucked up the track or something inside. I opened it up this morning and couldn't see anything obvious. As far as I know they are led, bought them from ebay. Confusing as there are inverters. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/302222051408

I installed them this morning. I have to say that I much prefer the stock headlights with black rings to the aftermarket ones.

Lights look great. I love the stock light rather than the full circles that they do on the aftermarket ones.
Removing the indicator lenses completely freshens it up nicely.
 
And it sounds better than the full Simota kit on the coupe!
To be honest Martin, from a driver's point of view an induction noise is better than the exhaust because you can hear it. Agree re the planting of the right foot too.:thumbsup:

Get a Z3 and you'll hear the exhaust plenty, hardly any sound deadening :)

I would say they are definitely CCFL ones, I have never seen LED ones with inverters, you can normally just tap into the positive and negative circuit. Still look great though, I much prefer the standard lights over the aftermarket ones. The aftermarket ones aren't that bright either at least you can see these angel eyes in daylight. Bet it sounds awesome with that induction kit :thumbsup:

Nope, my mate preferred OEM. It'd still be on there if I was keeping it.
Have you done anything with your Z4 exhaust Gaz, I have to say it's on my wanted list but not yet at the top as other things come up. Maurice took his back box off and opened it and gutted it I believe. May be a temporary option?

Having seen the Laguna Seca Blue (by far my favourite colour) Coupe on eBay, and not being able to afford it, I was browsing eBay and by chance came across a roadster in LSB: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182512578863?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT


I thought about going to see it and had decided against it until house mentalist Stacey MADE me go and see it on the way back from work.


The respray was excellent and after taking it for a quick spin, a deal was done.


The details:

1997 car

2.8 litre engine

105k miles

M roadster seats

AC Schnitzer exhaust

5 series wheels, with an LSB line painted in

Reprayed in LSB from Atlanta Blue


The car was owned by the owner of The Body Motor Works (bodymotorworks.com), who completed the respray. The respray has been done properly, meaning that the entire engine bay has been resprayed (engine out) and I can’t find a trace of the old colour. All voids were also treated to Waxoyl

In the last 15,000 miles the car has benefitted from:

New soft top
New rear top mounts
New 3rd brake light seal
Speaker upgrade
Lower steering column bearing replaced
New front suspension arms
Front Powerflex lollipop bushes
New radiator and hoses
New belts
Water pump removed and checked
New clutch plate and flywheel
New catalytic converter
Replacement MAF sensor
Wing mirrors replaced

There are a couple of issues to be resolved:

The car is running too cool (temp is just above the blue on the water temp gauge). Assume that the thermostat is sticking
The viscous clutch for the fan is sticking – needs replacement
Rear spacers are too wide, meaning that the wheels are hitting the rear quarter panels over big bumps.
Brakes are not very good – new discs and pads were supplied with the car. Will also be replacing the brake fluid.

Hopefully most of this is going to be resolved tomorrow.
