Just talked to him on the phone and asked about the up coming weather with respect to the hurricane. He said they were expecting some tropical force winds first then perhaps be brushed with hurricane winds later. I wished him luck..................Frankie

Thinking of you @t-tony :p
Be safe ;)

Forecast worse today @FRANKIE quite likely to see hurricane force winds now. People required to be off the roads by 5pm. We had lunch at our local Denny's (just). A sign on the door said we close at 1.00pm today and re-open on Saturday, we were the last ones in before they locked the door.
Returned home and put most of the patio furniture in the garage, some still in lounge. Bins brought into the garage too, unlike the eejits accross the road who have placed theirs at the kerbside so that they end up at the bottom of the road!!
The sky is starting to darken already.

Tony.

Squeaky bum time mate.

Tony.
Are you in a safer place mate, I see that the govenor was telling everyone to evacuate. It was just one way traffic and the shops where empty.

We're slightly west of the centre of the state Sean, on its current track the storm should, hopefully, just stay offshore which slightly lessens the wind speeds inland. We can expect 40mph sustained winds for quite a while. The biggest worry is for coastal areas where they're expecting anywhere between 6-11 ft. storm surges add on up to 1ft of rainfall.

Thats good to hear mate, we was in Jamaica when Sandy hit 4 years ago, it was so bloody exciting and we had to stay an extra 2 days as all the planes where grounded when it devastated USA.

Someone at the party last night was due to leave on Saturday but they've already been given a 24hr delay, folks next door just said the same but I don't think they yet realise they might not be leaving yet. Next door the other side is not occupied so I'm going to go and put their patio furniture into the pool so it won't blow around and damage pool screens, theirs or ours.

Take a couple of babes over with you and some drinks and take some photos, then leave a note about how much you like their pool.......Frankie

Hopefully you'll be far enough from the centre of the storm that it will be just very windy - no worse than we get in the UK? Still not wise to be out or exposed. I presume its not expected to be so bad that you're having to board up windows and doors.
Am amazed that people just don't know how to batten down the hatches and prevent things from becoming missiles.

Another band of rain just passed though so we went and secured next doors patio furniture. All ours is inside now.
One thing we forgot to get was a battery powered radio and after unsuccessful attempts to find one this morning we decided to reverse the car up the drive leaving the driver's door closest to the front door so we can nip out and listen to the radio and keep up if the internet goes down (more than likely).

Patio furniture scattered around the house, because we bought a new set and haven't gotten rid of the old set there's double the amount to find room for, plus the too wheelie bins.

Three of the old loungers we put into the pool, as they're alloy construction they won't corrode in the water.

The last time the deck was this empty was when we bought the house 5 years ago!

Fingers crossed for you two overvthere, stay in stay safe.;)
Roy.
Cheers Roy, will do mate thanks.

Tony.

And so it starts, a proper downpour at 5.20, sounds like someone squirting a hose pipe at the Windows.

Tony.

ps. iPad needs charging, later . . . . .

It's going to be a long night. :(
Just looked at the track. Looks like you'll be too close for comfort unless it veers out into the Atlantic. Hope it does. Anything less than 80mph winds will be a result. Stay safe in the leeward side of the house.

That's a bit difficult as the winds will commence from the northeast but as the storm moves up the east coast the winds will swing around to the southwest. Mind you, we may already be awake!

Tony.
