Thanks, Go to agree with @mrscalex regarding the bonnet, I had a figure of about 1K ex VAT in my head, this makes a huge difference to the quote value if a minor repair can done, lets face it new or old bonnet the panel will be painted either way.p.s. here is the cost breakdown:View attachment 119041
Wise words, I just hope AF know the value of what they are dealing with and as a broker relay this to the insurance company.Don’t let the insurers write your car off. It’s your car and you alone can decide it’s future. They may put a lot of pressure on you to write it off and have the nerve to take it off your hands.
I have an Agreed Value with AF, it was based on a BMWCC valuation which they accepted without any problem. Could be worth considering when you get sorted out.Be careful what you wish for! I just had a recent conversation with AF about a fixed value, and after what they told me decided not to do it (unlike my Mk2Golf GTi). In hindsight...![]()
Brilliant, thanks!I have an Agreed Value with AF, it was based on a BMWCC valuation which they accepted without any problem. Could be worth considering when you get sorted out.
The valuation service provide by BMWCC is quite detailed requiring if I recall photos, service details, latest MOT, modifications etc. Look on their website to find details & cost.
Hope you get this accident problem sorted out satisfactorily.
Curtsies,Thanks for all the helpful info, chaps and chapesses(?)![]()

Your insurers and their preferred repairers and their recovery agents are all incentivised to do the job (probably a cr*p one as discussed) and they will be persistent. Just keep telling yourself your car, your right to do as you wish. The advice given by mine was that, in a no-fault claim, it's better to go rhrotugh the 3rd party insurer because there are no up-front costs to be paid, and there us ni record on your own insurance, even though a claim was made. You are right: I do have the right to choose, and I have already told them I want to use someone.else, but the Recovery Agents keep calling to pick up the vehicle. I shall be speaking to the Insurer's handling agent on Monday and will have to insist that it goes to @Sean d's once I get his address details. If not, I will have to use my Insurers. Watch this space!!
