Hi and welcome , for your money there should be some good choice. As for a 3 or a 4 there will be many answers.
If a daily driver most would advise a 4 but if its fun and a more inspired drive for a weekend then a 3.
Theres a big love for both here some progress from a 3 to a 4 and then go back to the 3 its all about your own preference in look and drive.
Try them all but try a few of each as there is choice and you will know when driving it what feels right
Good luck with your search

Welcome a Z3 or Z4  as everyone will tell you two totally different beasts but my preference is a Z3 it drives like an old roadster Z4 a bit to posh and refined for me:whistle:

Welcome @Somersetlandmark !
The chasing part has its charms, money are enough , so good hunting! The season is great ; in Winter prices are low for roadsters.
Enjoy the forum as you will find here a lot of info and help!

I'm planning to buy a z and have been having a look around the forum to see what's what. I'm thinking of a 2.8 of 3.0, but can't decide between a Z3 or Z4. I'll have about 6k to play with.

Check this out 3.0 Z3 1 Owner 76K I think:thumbsup:the only 3.0 lt in Auto Trader?

Couldn't have put it better myself Ant. You would get a stunning low mileage 3.0 Z3 for that money or a nice Z4. As Ant says try them both and make you own mind up.

Hi
Thanks for the warm welcome. I've driven a Z4 now and it was very nice and refined, fast etc. i do want to have a go in a 3. The one listed above looks really nice, so i'm going to see if I can find one a bit more local to try out. To be honest I'm leaning towards the 3 at the moment, I think it might be a bit cheaper to run, better spares availability etc, and i prefer the looks. I'm 6ft 2inches tall, so don't know if that might change this view when I sit in one. The Z4 was a little cosy, but fine... Still, I'm enjoying the browsing.
Cheers

There is more leg room in a 3 than any other car I've driven and I'm 6ft1.

Like the way your thinking don't worry about being 6-2 plenty of people I know with Z3's who are around 6ft i'm close on 6-2
but my legs are short so i'm about 6" shorter=))=))=))=))=))=))=))=))=))

Dave (aka Mint) had both and in the end preferred the 3 and sold his 4?

Hello,

I am 6ft 2" and have no problem with my z3 2.2. As Ant has said, grab one and go for a spin.. @La_vida_diver is not far from Somerset being over North Devon way, so I am sure he might offer some help. Duncan has raced a z3 as well.

Any questions, you will find plenty of experienced help on here.

Hi from Canada!! Never driven a z4 but can't see ever wanting to. Too refined for my liking, I like the primitive z3 for looks and my 11 yr old granddaughter who picked it agrees!! Good luck whichever you buy and if it's a z4 so be it we're still here to help!! JIM
