:welcome: from Norfolk Simon....Don't discount a 2.8 litre manual....0-60 in 6.7 seconds and 134 m.p.h.! Plus you have the choice of 2 body styles, original and face (ass) lift. Me? I'm rather old school, so driving a car for pleasure and feel I want my motor to be mechanically connected to the rear wheels , not by fluid through a slush box. This is just my own personal opinion....(Other opinions are available.):D

Best of luck with the search. If you're not sure of anything, or need info, just ask away.

Hi @Simon67 and welcome from Surrey, I had never owned an auto before buying my Zed but after driving a freinds 325 auto with the selectronic box, I decided to risk it. The later gearbox is a much better experience than the old ones and after 9 years and 94,000 miles I am still happy with it, if you get the urge to change gear you just put it in manual. :welcome:

Hello from the Highlands. As others have said, don't discount a 2.8. I bought a 3.0 in the end but was just looking for a really good 2.8 or 3.0. Manual is great & with the torque on tap you don't need to change out of 5th much if you're feeling lazy. Gearbox & clutch are also very light for a performance car.

Hi, and welcome. I'm from Kent as well, seems to be a growing number of us here. I've had a 2.8 and now a 2.2, from my point of view in the world of real driving the 2.2 is the package for me, I've never felt underpowered, as to me an open topped sports car is not one to drive on the limit all the time, but for cruising with the roof down and enjoying the surroundings, especially on nice twisty roads. Oh and I think the 2.2 has the best exhaust note.

Agreed. From around 30 m.p.h. in 4th or 40 m.p.h. in top, :coolsteer)..give the loud pedal a push and the 2.8's torque will do the rest!

Hi guys

Newbie here. Fast approaching 50 and feeling the need for a big engine and no roof! Ive had TVRs in the past (before kids and poverty) but have always had a soft spot for the Z3.
So, I'm starting the search for a 3.0. Torn between manual or auto but really want a low mileage car with low stress and no 'issues' needing to be sorted out. Would love to hear any views on auto vs manual and any leads on cars for sale.. Looking forward to owning a Z :)

Cheers

Simon
