Hi guys

Newbie here. Fast approaching 50 and feeling the need for a big engine and no roof! Ive had TVRs in the past (before kids and poverty) but have always had a soft spot for the Z3.
So, I'm starting the search for a 3.0. Torn between manual or auto but really want a low mileage car with low stress and no 'issues' needing to be sorted out. Would love to hear any views on auto vs manual and any leads on cars for sale.. Looking forward to owning a Z :)

Cheers

Simon

Hi and welcome from mansfield. Completely a personal preference thing on the gearbox. The 3.0 is a stonking engine tho so you can't go far wrong. I believe @lightning is selling his 3.0. It's a superb low mileage car.

Hello from me in South Yorkshire. A lot of these cars are pushing 20 now even a low miler will have ageing rubber something to consider when looking at history.
A great choice and good luck with your search.:welcome:

Welcome to the forum. 3.0 is a great engine but expect to pay a high price for one, there's not that many out there, don't rule out a good condition well maintained 2.8. Good luck with your search

Hi and welcome from London/Kent. I too was after an auto but wanted as late and low mileage pre face lift as I could find. I ended up with a late low mileage but manual. I mainly wanted an auto so Mrs Slam would drive it more she does drive but would prefer auto. I personally think it's got such massive torque you don't need to change gear that often and the clutch is nice too.

Hello and welcome from Truro. Mines an auto but to be fair I chose it for the whole package rather than "manual v auto"

If you intend to do a bit of touring, taking in hilly twisty roads, you can be assured that you'll always be in the right gear with an auto.

I know that roadsters are usually manual geared, but 99% of Mercedes are auto's, so if it's good enough for Merc .........

Welcome Simon from near Lincoln. I have Z4 3.0i Auto and love it to bits. Plenty of grunt for the auto box.

Tony.
