Z3lda was made in April 1998. She too is top spec., electric everything, chrome line interior, HiFi upgrade, sports seats and wheel. The Alpina Softline Alloys were on it when my chum owned it before me, but the build spec showed Z Stars originally fitted. Green stripe windscreen. My interior is extended beige Oregon leather with wood trim to centre console. What colour is your interior? I think all 2.8's had a limited slip differential. A leather central armrest with cupholders was also fitted sometime before I bought her.
I have fitted an ASC front strut brace, and from the U.S.A. a Butt Strut lower rear strut brace and longitudinal body braces.
Recently I have replaced the Sills and 'roadster' covers etc.
Montreal Blue in bright sunshine is something really special.

No, all the spot welds in the boot are good and I checked the underside exactly a year ago. No corrosion visible, and Waxoyl liberally applied.
I don't do wheel spinning starts, (well, not intentionally anyway ) and she doesn't go out in the wet so, fingers crossed, it'll stay that way!

I am about half way through removing cleaning and refitting the rear subframe and suspension on my '98 2.8. I spent this afternoon
prepping the diff housing for repaint.There are several Zed owners in the South West, it would be good to meet up for a blast across Dartmoor.

Good news....
My spot welds failed. Then a split developed in the boot. I had a channel across the boot opened up and had re-enforcement added to the sub frame. Then a plate was welded over the channel and inside the boot re-sprayed. This strengthened the whole of the rear of the car not just where the Diff bracket is mounted. It cost £600 but was money well spent. I first started to hear a slight knocking at low speed from the rear of the car. Just keep checking once a year and fingers crossed yours wont go.
I have never cleaned them so I probably should have a go. I live 10 miles from Exeter.
Hi Guy, the above prompted me to check my boot spot welds today. I even checked under the tool tray and am happy to report all are as new! From what I have read, it seems the problem is quite random and not necessarily related to driving styles, age or if the car is kept outside or used in all weathers. You have the satisfaction of knowing that your car is now almost certainly stronger in the diff area than it was when it left Spartanburg, even if it did cost you £600. All the best.Good news....
