Above is a pic of my car in "sick bay". My neighbours say they would never buy a z3 as mine is always broken! They don't realise I just love tinkering.

Good stuff, did you notice a difference from the front arms change? I do the same for every old bmw I get and it always makes the front feel so much tighter.
Hope the abs light stays out!
Cheers
The light is still off...

This the first time I have replaced the suspension arms and tract rods on a car. When I compared the old ball joints to the new there was a major difference......play in the old....Nil play in the new. My z3 is on 100,000 miles and a lot of that was on twisty Devon B roads so they needed doing.

Hello and welcome from Truro.

A common cause for the ABS/ASC light to be on intermittently is a dirty wheel sensor. If they are faulty the light would be on permanently, so it's most likely just a bit of road dirt or brake dust.

If they've never been changed they can be a pig to get out, as I found recently as I had to replace one for my MOT last month.

Where in Devon are you ?

:welcome: Guy, you can't beat a nice Montreal Blue pre ass lift 2.8 Z3. Looking at your pics your car could be my Z3lda's sister. What is her build date?

I think that would be a good move, or perhaps Montreal Blue for the strut brace?. ( I can see from your engine pic that your Z3 is younger than Zelda.)

Wecome to the forum Guy.

Your ABS light issue could be due to sensors, however I, along with a few other members have seen a similar intermittent problem due to dry solder joints in the ABS control module.
If the light comes on again and changing the sensors does not cure the problem, this is where I would look.
There are two fixes. One is to repair the solder joint after cutting the module open, or sending it off to a ECU specialist to do it for you. The other is to find a ABS unit with the same part number, swap it for yours and recode the unit to your car.
There are a few write ups on the forum covering the detail, but sourcing parts or getting the unit repaired will take a few weeks.
Enjoy the summer and hopefully the lights will stay off. This is a job to tinker with over the winter.

Guy.....54....owned a z3 for just over 9 years. I have used this site regularly and it has been a god send! The most recent time being help in finding the supplier for a new rear screen.

I thought it was about time I started contributing......here goes.

My z3 failed it's mot last year due to an ABS sensor warning light being on. This was an intermittent problem that had been getting worse. It also had an advisory on the near side outer ball joint. I drove the car home and the warning light went out. The car past the mot next day as the light did not come on during the re-test. In getting the car ready for the mot this year I replaced both suspension arms and both track rods as all were becoming worn ( I used "Meyle" parts and would recommend them ). I also installed a strut brace. My next job was tackling the ABS warning light issue.......but guess what......The warning light has stopped coming on!

I just hope it is due to the new ball joints and strut brace reducing vibration and not a fluke!
Welcome to the forum from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey...................Frankie
