Help re steering wheel

In regards to refitting. Ive had the alignment done (apparently) and the wheel is still unlevel when driving straight, can i just adjust this when refitting, so its straight?

So the wheel was unlevel straight after the alignment was done?

Hopefully the alignment was measured correctly but the steering wheel was just off which is entirely possible, in which case yes you might be able to fix that by moving the wheel a spline or 2

A professional outfit would lock the wheel in the straight ahead position before any adjusting is done, which should ensure correct wheel alignment and the steering wheel pointing the right way too.

Tony.

Fairly obvious yes, I would take it back and ask for it to be re done. In fact I would've taken it straight back if it had been possible.

Yeah it should have been. Same idiot that scuffed my wheel. Just denied all knowledge.
Boils my Psss.
Just asking now should i pay for proer alignment or just put the wheel back on straight?

If you have paid for a road wheel alignment and the steering wheel is now off centre the work hasn't been done properly.

Thanks @Ianmc that's the thing! You have the evidence the steering wasn't centred properly before the alignment was carried out. Faulty procedure for sure, that should be the first step before proceeding. If it's a franchise take it to corporate office with your complaint. JIM

Its not. Just some idiot ruining his late fathers business.
Like i say he denied all.

People such as HE is shouldn't be in business!! Try your BBB and file a.complaint, surely this guy has pi$$ed off others who may have.filed complaints! Don't back down, raise a little hell in the shop in front of other customers, usually works for me! JIM

If I need to be to get the results I expect I suppose so @HT! Why, did you just roll over when someone screwed you around?? I doubt it very much, you would most likely have cracked the b*****d in the mouth though I'd think! JIM

exactly, i did the same, took it off, moved it one tooth, put it back

its a Z3, not a Ferrari

Easy enough to do as its not a tapered spline, just need to be careful of the clock Spring wire.

Tony.

ps. But if the wheel wasn't straight after the adjustment how confident would you be that the alignment was now correct? Me, not very.

Totally agree @t-tony and by fixing the wheel problem yourself you leave yourself responsible if anything were to go wrong. I firmly believe in holding people accountable where repairs are involved and if not satisfied refuse to take their BS answers. Get them to do it properly! I know it only takes two minutes to correct but you paid your hard earned money for this fellow to do a job and he's failed, hold him accountable! JMHO. JIM

Usually the computer print out tells you whether the car is aligned properly

It does if you're knowledgeable enough to understand it Tim, most people wouldn't be. Not every place gives you a print out either.
I had my Z4 done at work and the steering wheel wasn't straight enough to my satisfaction so the next day a gave the tyre bay "manager" the keys and asked for it to be done correctly.
