No worries tony am on it , if charging battery dont work al get a stsrter , watching a coupke on flee bay from breaker 25 quid , think al be able to change it over myself , got full set bulbs for headlights coming and my wheel spacers for rear too and no where to go !!! HaIf you have a charger, put it on charge over night and try it tomorrow. If the dash lights dim or go out when you turn the key to start, then it's likely the battery or connections. If the lights don't dim it's likely starter motor or connections.
Tony.
ps. Wish I was nearer then I'd come and have a look for you.
Well saved £40 or so, did get one from Halfords £54 but the Lidl one seemed to good to pass up, so popped in after work and got one and returned the Halfords one.Lidl have very good trickle chargers for about £13 that you can leave on for a long time I think there in stock now
I would agree new batteryno point battery will just go dead again if broke
better looking at replacement battery
just remember to find radio code before changing or use jump leads to do the change over
Sounds like the battery is past it's sell by date.Having exactly same issues, car been in storage since October but I start it up every 2 weeks. It's on a trickle charger and said battery full. However last time only barely started, now clickety click. Disconnected and reconnected charger, rocked back and forth in gear, tried again and JUST caught and started. Pretty sure it's the battery as it was on 6 years ago when bought car and its not original BMW. Will report back with findings.
