Business end of the Mossie pic is from the Alberta Aviation Museum in Edmonton, Alberta. Thankfully stored inside. Part of their collection is outside and degrading rapidly. My father acting as navigator ferried a Mossie across the pond from the Toronto factory. He was with the RAF transport command ferry service during the war. 280 test/ferry missions based out of Dorval, Quebec. A couple Lancs, some B-17s, but mostly Liberators earlier and lots of Dakotas near the end.Hello and. Nice DH Mossie avatar
.
Hopefully we will see a Mossie return to the skies above Britain in the next few years, along with another Lanc.Business end of the Mossie pic is from the Alberta Aviation Museum in Edmonton, Alberta. Lancaster gate guard from Edmonston, NB is now in Trenton Airforce museum for restoration. I had contributed to a crowd fund that failed to get it moved to Edmonton museum for restoration last year. Luckily it drew enough attention to save it last summer after being left outside for 53 years. An Aussie had wanted to restore it too. Trenton also has the only complete Halifax. You're in good co here then @TedC My FIL was on a Lanc in Egypt and serveral members, especially @HT loves the Lancs, have a big interest in WWII planes of all varieties!! He has a thread about Just Jane's refurb going right now, check it out! JIM
