Anyone interested in a 100% effective headlight lens restoration polish ??
I have recently used this stuff, and as per the photograph below, you can see the great result.
Other than the polish, I used 1/2 a sheet of 2500 grit wet paper - I couldn't find 3000 grit otherwise I would have used that instead.
I used the paper with water to sand the surface of both units until the mess stopped being yellowish. The surface was super smooth albeit completely cloudy.
I then used this polish I found at a local auto parts shop for £4. Comes in a little cheap plastic container of 85g.
I didn't follow the instructions in only one aspect. They suggested 1500 grit paper which I considered insane and likely to mean lots of polishing.
Other than that, it was a breeze. I applied it, and TBH, I used my drill and a small lambswool buff pad which I slightly wetted
5 minutes of buffing on each and job done. The sanding probably took longer - more like 20 minutes because I sanded in 4 directions - L R and diagonally to cross hatch then top / bottom very lightly and very wet.
I was so impressed, I used some on my reading glasses and was pleasantly surprised at how easily it removed the fine scuffs on the lenses.. It's a white paste and water soluble - absolutely no pong - and I have more than half the container left. It's a locally made product, so not available in the UK.

Sounds a lot like White Diamond metal polish:
https://www.whitediamondeu.com/

Quite liquidy, I used it with no sanding on a set that weren’t too bad and came out great. Works brilliant on untreated alloys too (which is what I bought it for!)

I then used a headlight coating, I think Simonz brand to protect it from yellowing again. Much cheaper than buying those little headlight kits that seem like they have too little in for the price!

I tried some Mothers metal polish before I used this stuff. The Mothers wasn't much use on the polycarbonate.
I used some Simoniz also.. Hope it does the UV protection thing. Those "kits" are a serious rip off I agree.
Possibly the only item in their box I might be interested in is the clear UV protection liquid. I did see that Phillips make a kit at around a third the cost of the other popular name brands.

I need to do the zed. My old daily had terrible yellowing. I can't remember the brand. @Mint gave me the remainder of a kit he had used on his and it worked a treat. I have a feeling it was made by t-cut.

done a front headlight on the 2.8 today as i had the headlight out to access the non working horn... had a bit of a job to get the headlight out as the bolt thats hard to access had rounded and there was not much head left i ground down an 8mm socket and banged a hammer on it to get it out...anyway got it out eventually

anyway while the headlight was out i give it a polish i just used 2000 wet / dry... give it a good seeing too with that then got my electric drill with a polishing mop on and some autosol and poundland scratch away polish and sorted it out great.. brought it back in the house and give the outside a good clean and it looks like new...

Thanks mate. Is it just a rub on rub off polish or do you use sandpaper?

Simply apply with a soft cloth and rub in, a bit like using autosol! Then buff up with a clean cloth. No sandpaper or wetting. Took me just a few minutes each side.

If it’s not too bad then no sanding needed, only need sanding when it’s gone really bad, I did a Honda that looked like sanding was going to be needed but a drill sorted it out so I don’t think yours will be that bad...unless you’ve parked outside it Spain for the last few years since I last saw your car up close!!

It is Dino. Bet it's 3 or 4 years, there not that bad, sounds like this polish will be enough to make good.
