Somebody came to look at the Z3 l am selling and they didn’t want the hard top.

What’s a pristine Topaz Blue hardtop with fitting kit worth to sell? So l can give him an idea as to what he would get for it.

Realistically I would say £800, when I was looking for mine I was watching them on various media for a number of months and the higher price ones at around £1000 just weren't moving

It's fine asking a high price, doesn't mean you're going to get it.
@Synclare had one for sale with fitting kit, can't remember the exact price but somewhere around £600, it was hanging about for ages.

2 years ago when i got my Topaz the seller offered me an unused hard top and fittings for £ 600.-- i declined as i did not know nothing.

Once i realised their value i called him back, but had already sold it on for £ 700.-- DOH ! what a mistake to make !

Min 700 max out at 1000

I would try it at £950 with expectation of £850 to £900 then drop to no lower than £800 expecting £750 if it does not sell at the higher price

Depends how desperate a sale is needed and time of year. Spring around the corner demand will drop off. Some people advertise kits at £495 and get it, pot luck. Im in agreement with Sean, £350 for the kit and £450 the top. There were kits on ebay at sub £400 and not appearing to sell. I take it you have the electric loom?

When I put the order in for mine in late 98 I bought a year old Atlanta Blue 1.9 with a hardtop from the dealer while my car was being built, when my car was ready and the paperwork being sorted the dealer said I could keep the hardtop for £500(I didn't know then that not all Z3's had a fitting kit) but as it had been hung on the garage wall all the time I had the car I declined.

I'd still love to have one just to know I'd got all the bits but I know I'd never use it and it's a chunk of money.

Yes the wiring harness and switch would be included.
Sounds like £800-900 would be about right maybe a little more with the switch/harness included.

I was going to sell the hardtop last year and l though “no a buyer will want the hardtop with the car” so l kept it and the first person to view the car didn’t want the hardtop
Always the way.
I must admit l have never used it, but l don’t use the car over Winter so l guess that will be why.

I advertised HT+kit for £800 and got a buyer at the door 2 days later. Pot luck really, but I wouldn't accept less than 800 if it's pristine

Yes as I say 'pot luck'. If you hype it up and have the original torx driver and split the components up by separating the electrical harness etc to make it look like you're getting more and even better still the fitting booklet you may get lucky. Personally if i were buying that car I would like to keep the whole package complete as original whether you use it or not, a bit like flogging the number plate off an old classic, spoils things in my opinion.

Alternatively knock 300quid of the cost of the car if you keep the hardtop. Then just sell it yourself :ymdevil:

A range is the only right answer I feel. £800 on a bad day, through to £1,200 on a good day.

At this time of year with Spring allegedly with us and Summer around the corner it's going to be the lower end probably.

It's now the right time of year for tonneau cover values to go through the (lack of a) roof :)

Well it is going with the car, if the new owner wants to sell it then it’s up to them!
