I reckon you heart is only good for so many beats, I am not going to use mine up any quicker
Life in the fast lane means the final destination arrives quicker...
don't want to have a headstone with 'fittest man in the graveyard' on it.
It needs exercise to keep fit like anything else Pete. Leaving it to just tickover isn't any good for it. You have to stay within certain parameters and as you get older they reduce but I'm feeling a hell of a lot better than I used to.
I smoked 20 fags a day for 20 years and never watched what I ate. I stopped smoking 9 years ago, I watch what I eat now and do a sensible amount of exercise and the difference in how I feel is night and day.

You could see the difference this year Dave, markedly so.
Enjoy the bike, at least you can know keep up with Jue when she goes out for a run. :D

When the back eases you may be able to run on the treadmill again - much less impact. also try and use crosstrainer or stairmaster in the gym, if they have one. At least some fast walking, as you do need other exercises besides only cycling. I seem to remember discussing the pitfalls of running with you earlier this year ;)

Do plenty of squats, lunges etc. as these are beneficial too for fitness, not just cardio exercise.

We did notice you watch what you eat now - eyeing up all the cakes at the Torksey meet this year
Good luck mate and keep up the good work.

Thanks Toby. I do eat more of what I like now. A cakey or an occasional takeaway is all good now as long as I keep moving as I like my weight where it is now.

Very impressive Dave & Jue !
Two simple rules to losing a bit of weight.
Move more,
Eat less,

Good luck hope you reach your targets:thumbsup:
Don’t forget less booze as well! Alcohol is very fattening!
