Yes that's a possibility Dave, but the new owner may want to keep them to put back on in the event of removing the brace themselves?I have a potential buyer off the forum, if they have it can we just switch the subframe bolt things over??
Well it's potentially sold now. I've mentioned it to them so see what happens. If that's the case I'll have a word with Daz mate.Yes that's a possibility Dave, but the new owner may want to keep them to put back on in the event of removing the brace themselves?

Cheers @t-tony we often buy them in when we get all the bits so have no new ones around. I've never seen that bolt method before then again going by the surface corrosion on that brace its been on for a while.Another point to note - Reggie had weird nuts ! . . . . . . . . I shall explain. Where the cross brace was mounted to the rear beam studs the original hexagonal style nuts had been replaced by some large SQUARE nuts which had a machined shoulder on them that located inside the hole in the end of the brace. Fortunately I had some old Whitworth 12 point sockets knocking around, one of which just happened to fit these square nuts like a glove! I said to Dave that he would have to buy a pair of new nuts from BMW to replace theses square nuts because we had to reuse the square ones to re attach Reggire's rear cross beam. Unless the Zed Shed (South) boys might have any that Dave could beg? @Lee ?
Tony.
Thing is it will have to be fitted while you are there with Reggie mate, or at least have a jack under the cross beam to support it at least until you replace the nuts.Well it's potentially sold now. I've mentioned it to them so see what happens. If that's the case I'll have a word with Daz mate.
Do I get them from bmw direct mate? Can't see it being easy to get pattern parts.Thing is it will have to be fitted while you are there with Reggie mate, or at least have a jack under the cross beam to support it at least until you replace the nuts.

I'll have a look through some bins at work tomorrow mate. Don't think they'll be much from the dealer but I might be able to find some.Do I get them from bmw direct mate? Can't see it being easy to get pattern parts.
