Has anyone seen one of these, we was working on his car today and he mentioned this steel cradle, it bolts to the rear suspension you can see cross bar (a) and then runs full length of the car to a front cross bar, just wondered what it might be, the car also had some seriously powerful rear springs.

The pictures bad (lol) but it could be a strong strut body brace.
God only knows what it weighs Gaz, it's constructed of solid steel at about 30mm x 15mm and there's quite a lot of it. We're going to take it off at the next visit and then we'll weigh it. No visible sign of manufacturer on it up to now.

Tony.

It was discussed today weather to remove it altogether and flog it. I don't drive anywhere near the pace for that to kick in, although I do like a fast acceleration from time to time, must weight a tonne, does it have any value???

Someone has obviously tried to stiffen the whole thing mate, especially with those tractor springs on the rear, @Grumpy how does it feel now, does it still shake your fillings out :D

It's still hard mate but not as bad as it was, the drive is so different. Much better, really chuffed with the overall result. :)

I'm guessing you mean the ride is firm rather than hard, those awfully thick rear springs looked like they belonged to a 7-serires not a little car like the Z3. The rear ones will definitely be more progressive simply because your car would never have the weight to compress those other things mate.By the way @Sean d the n/s spring was much easier to change than the o/s one. I only needed one bar to persuade it to come off.;)

It just felt all together better Tony, it didn't shake the car to bits when I ran over a but of grit! It feels newer if that makes sense.

it does mate although it's firmer you now have some "suspension" on the rear, and new shocks all round.

Did I read it right 450 dollars for the brace kit ? :wideyed:.

Some good reports though in the customer reviews.
