The Gurkhas are great people, had the pleasure of working with them at the NRA comps back in the early eighties.

The Polish had a bunch of good pilots back in WW2 fighting for GB, something that gets forgotten now.
Same as with the Dutch resistance.

There are a fair few ex-Gurkhas living around here as they were stationed close by. There is an excellent Gurkha restaurant in the town centre.

Funny you should say that Mike, and to a degree it's sadly true. We passed a fledgling RAF Ingham Heritage centre at Ingham airfield this afternoon. This place was a grass airfield back in WW2 and housed several squadrons of Polish crewed bombers, about 15 miles north of Lincoln and only 3 or so from RAF Scampton along the cliff of the Trent Valley. There were more including Hemswell, and Kirton Lindsey to name but two.

We haven't visited it yet but plan to.
I will always remember a man called Frank Polinski who worked on the Lincoln and District Water Board with my dad. A lovely man.

And to think our government were considering not allowing those very brave men to settle here.

At the one here in Nuneaton there's a great chance that the guy serving you is a Lord! Bet that doesn't happen often.
