Giving Something Back 29th July 2018.

Help 4 Heros Tedworth House, Tidworth, Wiltshire.

OK Folks, Further to my other post which I will link now to this one. The date is Sunday 29th July 2018, the venue will be Tedworth House, Tidworth, Wiltshire.

Family day for the Ex forces who have given us so much. In return we give our time for a day. One site BBQ and some music. Small groups will drive out with a passenger from Tedworth House for a short run through the countryside to make them laugh and enjoy the BMW Zed experience. Its a small ask for you to drive an ex service person around the countryside for a lovely run. The routes will be posted later and will be a choice of two or three so you can return and maybe go again if you feel like it.

The BBQ will be free for all those running about in the zeds but I am proposing a donation of say £3 a head to help out if that is acceptable with everybody. The centre is amazing and having just had a tour, the facilities are world class from indoor ski slopes to gyms and music rooms all to help rehabilitate the wounded. I am sure you will appreciate what these people do.

A question has been raised regarding insurance liabilities and passengers, as we are not doing it for hire or reward I can not see an issue on my own insurance but I would suggest you check yours to make sure the small print is not an issue.

We will be parking on the inner area of Tedworth House and the venue is an ex forces officers mess. A great day will be had. I hope to run a raffle on the day and I am looking for some little things to give away. Will contact BMW and see what can be sourced. All money raised will go to Help 4 Heros.

Please state if you will be bringing a passenger too as they can enjoy the BBQ and music and also head out if you want to do a few laps, so to speak.

Well I have another guy with an SLK (yes I know thats worse than an MGF) who would like to come but is checking with SWMBO, but will confirm soon, and I can arrange a driver for the Alpina if you need another.

You are right that in driving someone without making any tangible gain (as you say for hire or reward) a standard policy is adequate to comply with the law. If we just don't accept any tips or gratuity and it's all legal.

My Z will be long gone by the time July comes around, either with a new owner form the forum, or via the dealer. If it’s OK with you, and everyone else, I would still like to take part in this. If my car messes up the aesthetics of a long line of Z's, I could always stay at the back and out of any camera shots!
