What kind of fuel efficiencies are people getting out of the 2.2l straight six engines?

I've measured mine across 1250 miles of driving and I'm averaging 27 mpg, that's a mix of motorway and city driving.

I'd be interested to know what other people average and if mine is close to normal or not?

Around town I get about 19 to 20 MPG, on the highway, I get about 27 as you do. My car is a 1998 2.8L with the 5-speed manual.

You'd need to be mindful of comparisons, the US Gallon is 3.8 Litres (rounded up) with the UK Imperial Gallon being 4.5 litres. To that end, I get roughly 23 around town and up to 35 at a constant Motorway speed of 70mph. Same car.

I don't think that will be far off what most people get. I have to admit I don't keep records as I know it will depress me. But using the OBC for spot checks that's about where I am with my 3.0. I would have thought a 2.2 ought to be nearer 30mpg for me but I do drive my cars like a granny.

The official combined figure for a 2.2 is 31mpg. I always found with my old Seat Alhambras that I would achieve official combined minus 10%. So if that's true of Z3s too you're almost on the money as that would be 28mpg.

Yes I'm using UK gallons in my calcs.

@mrscalex I imagine I would probably be 28-29mpg, but in my first couple of months of Z3 ownership, I've been a bit throttle happy and overexcited. Hopefully it'll calm down soon.

On my 2.0 according to the fuel computer, I average 33 mpg, it also says 50degree temp. Outside!!

I only kept a check for the first six months or so of ownership of my 2.2 and found that I was getting roughly 32 mpg in overall use, I did find that I did about 4 mpg more when using V-power.

My 2.2 Sport averages around 27-28 mpg (UK gallons). I don't think I have ever broken the 30 mpg barrier. I always use super grade fuel.

My 2.8 is about 30mpg at the moment. With my previous job it was on 18 due to the commute being short and in town. My mpg also went up after i replaced the air hoses that had perished and triggered the engine light.

euro trip in 2018 I got 28MPG ave for the trip, motorway, mountains, and B roads roads in the M, I was well impressed. If I'm out with @Lee or @Mint I get about 19mpg regardless of the road type. :meh: Don't know why that is though

Around the same. Sitting at 25 purely cause my son (18 months) likes to sit in it with me with the engine running dooting the horn and playing about. :coolsteer)

Only owned it last 3 months but I've been sitting around 27mpg ballpark.

This is my record of every penny that's gone on fuel into my manual 2.8 Zed from the day I bought it on 13th May 2018 to last night when I took it for a little run. My auto Zed is sorned but I have the same records for that car too and that goes back to December 2013. All MPG is calculated and not OBC. I always fill my car fuel tank which makes calculation very easy.

Self explainable really but columns are date, amount of fuel, cost of fuel, trip meter reading, calculated MPG and finally odometer reading.

Same for me Garry. I have a spreadsheet for both my Zeds, this is the summary sheet for my 2.2...

@NawidDaoud - as you can see my average is 32.25 miles per UK gallon.

I wont show the part of the spreadsheet where @Nodzed is chasing following me ;)

Yes my 2.2 averages about 27 mpg, I think what makes it seem worse is because the petrol tanks are so small, always seems like your filling it up.
