Wishing my car a very happy 22nd Birthday today.. She's aged well. Not a day over 17. For a little birthday present i have got round to job number 197 - 'aerial delete'. £5 for 2 little covers and a few 'spannerings' later, the rusty mount is gone in favor of a little black disc. Much tidier and with the rain coming, dry. Better for the car. I need to address some of the seals very soon as some fine mulch needs removed.

The big present will be the trip to Skye. Had a bit of repeat steering shudder for a few moments last week but soon stopped after a stretch. Think the car is protesting and is throwing a tantrum because its done 10 miles this month. Soon change that.

Took the car out for a trip on Saturday with Skye trip in mind. She ran perfectly. No brake issues at all. Double checked the tyre pressure and not a bit of air has escaped since they went on in march. Should hopefully be able to complete the Journey.

Had a chance to get a few other jobs completed. Passenger side seat bushings was the order of the day. Found lots of new mould on the hood, think it might be due to the dehumidifier location sitting in the back. Little photo update with today’s sun.

Out in the Z for some autumn driving. After some battery and brake issues yesterday, decided she needed a good drive. Headed to the petrol station and the z was like a dog catching a glimpse of a ball.. Walkies! No issue at all today on a nice drive to Balmha on Loch Lomond for some lunch and a walk in the beautiful colours of Autumn. Didn’t get any shots with the Z sadly...Did it even happen?

Not much driving this time of year so a few other projects to be getting on with. Finish up work for the holidays and decided to paint up the carriers I picked up for the front. Lots of goodies arriving in the post either tomorrow or Saturday.

Might have gotten a bit bold with the caliper paint but hoping it looks OK when on the car. Primer. Black. Copper metallic. Hoping to get a slightly darker copper with black coat on first.

Santa came a little late this year but all the bits and bobs for a front end refresh have finally arrived. Lots of boring bits really, but boring bits need done before 10inch wide wheels.

The online retailer has sent two different brands of caliper. They are a little different in respect to the outer moldings. I can't imagine there is going to be any issues?

My third year on Zroadster past last month and thought it was time for an update. The new components pictured above are now pretty much all on the car. Decent amount of a front end rebuild has been done all thanks to @Stevo7682 whom has turned every nut and hammered every arm free to get the car to where it sits now. There are still a few side projects on the go but i would assume this will be her winding down for the year before the most anticipated trip of the year, The Scottish Run 2020.

Pictured is the 300mm 328i/325i e46 brake rotor upgrade. After the first teething problem of having bought the wrong carriers last time around, managed to find the right ones and think these brembo "xtra line" rotors look a reasonably subtle upgrade. Turns out i will need to source some slightly larger brake pads for these as they don't quite cover the full rotor as can be seen on the inner rotor lip.

After an overdue clean. Show glazed and waxed the rear quarters and boot panel. Spent some time cleaning up the engine bay and taking some time to clean up the wheel arches to stop the dreaded rust.

After a wheel alignment, this is the before and after. Rear end needs rebuilt but I knew that from looking at the wheels. Could be worse.

After a bit of a u-turn on arms after the last pair were too rusty to be used. Managed to get another set and a beam. Sadly the bushes had been left in before the powder coat. Progress none the less.

The winter of discontent has faded into after-thought now that Spring is arriving. Some lovely sunny weather and some much needed time off work coinciding in Scotland.

Job #1596 - Outside Airtemp sensor is done. No longer reads - 40c 😂

80% of the bits ready for a rear end rebuild with a box coming from Schmiedmann in Denmark shortly with a load of spring pads, nuts, bolts etc.

Parking brake refurb kit, 4x bolts for the chassis plates and some handbrake lines... I think that might be it...🤞

Obligatory bits photo.

A familiar afternoons work today. Much overdue.

For 95% of zedders on here, having a soft top for summer is taken for granted. You did buy soft tops afterall... For me it's a bit of an ordeal. 😂 So for the first time in ownership, the car is back to softtop. Hardtop now removed and sitting in a stand my flatmate knocked up for me with £40 of homebase bits and a drill.

Considering the the hood has only ventured outside for 3 days on the Scottish Run 2019, she's not looking too bad. Needa a clean which will be done at somepoint as well as a rear window compound.

Today could have gone a lot worse. Fitting a window by yourself is a difficult process and sewing the corners of the zip back in correctly is not easy.

Hats off to Jack Smith for doing a full hood for £350. Couldn't pay me 350 quid to do a back window.

A rare sighting without its shell.

Screws. Brackets. Wood. 😁 Going to fashion up a strap for the middle.

Rough dimensions are 2 saws x 1 saw x 1 and 2/5s saws. Incase anyone was wondering... 😎

You know what, it'll be 25kgs lighter...

Brought me back to Scottish Run 2019. Weather was great today too and was joined with a Dakar yellow one just like 2019 for a small jaunt to 'flush the fluids through.'
