Well it was touch and go for a while, but you guys got the job done. You've probably driven it so much now, you'll stick it on your driveway and won't use it for a while.... Who am I kidding!

I'm sure it won't. The road trip you've been on is epic.

I always promised myself I'll buy a car in California and drive back across the States with it and load it on a boat in NY before I'm done.

Seems you beat me to it, but I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't very jealous of your trip. It was just a lovely thing to do.

Good luck to you Frankie. I hope you use the car in the style that Hugh showed you! If you do you'll get tickets a plenty!

So far this year I've been to Tenerife, La Plange and Thailand. It's been a bit of a holiday fest, but unexpected as we had Tenerife planned. then our daughter did a Ski season so we put a meet in the diary, and then were invited to Thailand and could not refuse. So of the two months this year we've been out of the country for over half of it. That means I'm playing catch up with jobs and work. No regrets though! Lifes a moment not a rehearsal.

:)

I'm confused!!! If your going from Austin in Texas to Las Vegas, what the hell are you doing on the 15??????
We flew from Philadelphia to San Deigo but there was a stop in Houston. We went on to San Diego, then started driving back to Egg Harbor Township, NJ. Our first stop was Las Vegas. Frankie

View attachment 13394 View attachment 13395 View attachment 13396 View attachment 13397 View attachment 13398 View attachment 13399 View attachment 13400 Wow we're in Vegas!Took the car for a test drive and the clutch is poor everything else is small problems that are simple fixes seat belt guide, diff bush and the little plastic jacking point cover thing is missing.otherwise the car is so clean it doesn't look used Frankie managed to negotiate a discount so he paid less than $8000 I think it was cheap.deal done we followed his cousin in his M5 to his house, saw his emaculate corvette and hit the road,San Deiego to Las Vegas 4 and a bit hours and 1 fuel stop. The exhaust is not standard a little more of a growl just enough .IT WAS GREAT I've never driven that fast for so long I thought I was at le mon crazy Frankie's smile was stretched from ear to ear 'at least I think it was a smile' the clutch is a pig though
In retrospect, the clutch seems to work just fine now. I think our foot was hitting the left foot rest and not allowing the petal to go to the floor so there was another half inch to go. Once we realized this, we placed our foot a little further to the right on the petal to avoid the foot rest and the clutch petal went down the extra distance and everything seemed fine. It also might be possible that the car sat for a few months and the dmc was a little stiff. Seems to work fine now. No problem now. Frankie

It will be good to bleed the clutch slave cylinder and to check if the fluid is clear or black; it will show if the seals are in good shape...

Frankie must be over the moon with that deal and the car looks excellent.

@hugh it looks as if you have mastered that art of driving from the passenger side and changing gear with the other hand, enjoy your drive across the states and great weather for it.
Hugh really surprised me with the ease he showed driving over here. He said that he had a lot of experience on the continent and it certainly showed. AS for the weather, I still can't believe it. We ran into some very light showers about 60 miles from the Grand Canyon, not enough to stop and put the top up. Its a funny thing though. We couldn't get over the nice hot weather but it was so nice and hot, we started to get burned and Hugh, with his white phosphorescent Welch skin, started to look like a cooked lobster. We were forced to put the top up for safety sake even though we hated to do so. The weather continued to remain incredibly beautiful throughout the rest of the trip and stayed that way even to the trip to take Hugh to the airport. He's on the jet now as I am typing this. God bless him, What a Great Guy!!!!!!!!!!!
