I think this similar to a fix I saw on Wheeler Dealers, but I cant remember what car it was done on.
The existing window rubber is a hollow tube, and the idea is to push a smaller dia tube or solid rubber down inside it. This stiffens and reshapes the existing window rubber.
May even work using polythene tubing??
