I did this so I could remove the ginger lens. I have some white lenses on my current lights, but I didnt want to separate those just yet, however removing the ginger lens gives a nice shiny chrome reflector.
I need to do something with my original tangos at the front (and possibly halos at the same time), but l just can’t bring myself to pay the prices seen on eBay at the moment for clears. Im just interested to know how the lights look with just the amber lens removed as compared to a clear? A bit hard to tell on the pictures I’ve seen.
Thanks

Not the first time someone has stole pictures of my car to promote their product. Had a company photoshop some drl foglights into my pictures, looked quite good. I asked them for a set as they used my photos to promote but they weren't interested, offered me something like a 5% discount. I said I wanted the pics removed as they didn't have my permission but they wouldn't. Told me there was nothing I could do. I'm not that fussed, having someone use my car in their listings makes me feel a little proud.

Thanks @gookah. I’ve just read your progress journal. A lot of good stuff there. The exhausts look great.

are these the lights you bought?
Halo
Out of interest, did you order anything yet? I’m looking at various suppliers and definitely heading down the LED route rather than CCFL. Figured if I’m going to do it, may as well get the brighter option. Doesn’t seem to be much in the way of UK suppliers?

I’m waiting on some to arrive from China. I’ll let you know how they turn out and post details after. I don’t want to endorse what could be a mistake!

on eBay:

Ultra-Hids don’t have anything for the Z3 but said if I send photos they might be able to help.

Sinolyn do now do custom orders and would ship 4x 128mm rings.

I understand that the Sinolyn come standard as 2x120mm + 2x128mm. Do we think 120mm is too small? I thought one side needs to be smaller anyway and that it’s likely that 4x128mm means adjusting 2 of them to fit the smaller aperture?

yes I wanted x 4 128mm originally, they would fit,
however now I think the two different sizes actually work well and are in keeping with most new BMWs dtm styles out there
Thanks @gookah I messaged Sinolyn and their supplier is currently locked down so at present it’s the standard kit of 120mm and 128mm 🤔
I suspect my lack of patience will make the decision somewhat easier.... 😁

Hi @Natrolite55

I have a solution for the angel eyes.
I have found the manufacturer of the lights and gone through what we (the Z3 lot) need, Sinolyn do not make them.
I have bought and imported an initial batch and I’ve installed a pair on one of my headlights. It all works and they look utterly fantastic!

I have installed them behind the lenses. When turned on or off they are neat, tidy and look totally OEM. You have to be keen eyed to spot them when switched off.
The lights are supplied with the wiring loom (you often pay extra for this). It allows you to have the lights coming on with the interior light and as a daytime running light etc.

Installation is a DIY job.

Ill be selling them through my website for £75.00 +postage at cost, which I think is a very fair price and competes directly with the Chinese suppliers.
Delivery will be from Cambridge UK in days rather than weeks from China.
I might sell a few through eBay but fees are over 10% so that will be reflected in a higher selling price.

I just need to source packaging and finish a few bits on the website and we are good to go.

They are LED. The picture of the front of the car was taken at about 15:00 before the clocks changed. It was a fairly bright day so it gives an idea of how they look.
I haven’t altered or changed any settings on the photo. It was simply taken and posted from my iPhone

Can you please put me down for a set Martin, one of my CCFL's is kaput.
