No mate, I was taught that was what that bearing was called back from when I learned to split a tractor in two to replace a 2 stage dual disc clutch in the 70s.
Also I learned how to remove one by filling it full of grease then driving a tight fitting punch into it with a hammer. The hydraulic effect forced the bearing out.

Gearbox input shaft is supported by the Spigot bearing in the end of the crankshaft. That small amount of play does actually aid in refitting the gearbox.

That did cross my mind but better safe than sorry before putting it all back together. The suspension and brakes are getting replaced in the meantime while I tread carefully/slowly. This is on my Dakar 2.2 which is finally getting the attention it needs. This should be a very nice car when it's done, especially as it's low mileage/low owner.
