Jeez, that's scary. And so many people say 'Don't buy a Land Rover, get a Toyota Land Cruiser because they're indestructible.'
The Japanese may have learnt long ago how to make the oily and electrical bits reliable, but it seems that they still have a way to go with the pressed metal bits....

Nothing a bit of glassfibre and body filler won't sort out. And to think that some tw@ recently declared that MOTs aren't needed.

Was it originally one that had been imported from Japan when it was a few years old ? A few years ago I easy looking at buying a shogun and looked at the imported equavalent the Pajero which looked the same but we a lot cheaper , when I did a bit of investigation I discovered because they were built purely for use in Japan no rustproof in or sealant was applied when new ,needless to say I walked away and bought a genuine uk spec one
