Hi All,

I am a new member to the club and I am excited to be here.
We (my wife and I) have recently become proud owners of a 2.2ltr Z3 (2002 yr) in Atlanta Blue. It is an automatic as we live in Dublin city and seeing as how we recently got the lovely accolade of being the 17th worst city in the world for traffic, thought auto was the best way to go.
I have ideas for the car already. Like larger wheels to fill the wheel arches, or lowered suspension perhaps? I don't really want to interfere too much with the car, but it just looks like it is sitting too high and the ride has a bit to much wallow. Any ideas would be much welcomed.
One of the other big things is the car does not have roll bars. Should we retro fit these?

Sorry, a lot of questions on my first hello. But I am so excited to do a few bits and pieces to the car, starting with a good clay bar and machine polish. It was sitting in a garage for fifteen years and only driven a few times over that period.

Thank you to all of you whom put this club together. I can imagine the time it takes and I very much appreciate it and all the help and advice it brings to owners like us.

With appreciation,

Liam.

:welcome: to the forum from West Cumbria. The roll hoops can be retro fitted but are not a safety requirement as the A pillars are the built in roll protection. They do look better fitted though. I've got mine lowered with the Bilstein B12 Pro kit on Eibach springs lowered by 30mm and 18 inch staggered wheels, 225 front, 255 rears.

Hi Andyglym, and thanks for the welcome.
Your car looks amazing. Can I ask does the Bilstein B12 Pro kit make the ride harsh or just give it that little bit of extra tightness? (as well as lowering it)
Thanks

Hi and welcome from me in Scotland :welcome:.
I have retrofitted roll hoop kits to both our zeds definitely adds to the look but it's extra level of safety they instill.
Stephen.

The ride is a tad firmer than stock but I do have complete OEM bushes all round so it's ok to be fair. Gets round all the Lake District passes ok without rattling my teeth out. And many thanks.

Oh, corners like a rat :D

The rollover bars are a safety feature: I ordered mine from new (car from new) and added these as a cautionary measure. They are not cosmetic: they serve a serious safety issue.

The Rollover hoops, whilst adding protection in a roll-over, are not an inherent safety feature by design, that's the A pillars. That said, I fitted OEM items to mine as it came without them as they will provide additional safety and look better with them.

I don’t doubt what you say Andy. I went with the info from BMW when I bought my car and the rollover hoops were definitely stated as safety features for the car and were an extra.

Hi, welcome from Mansfield.

Roll hoops are easy to retrofit, just not so easy to find. Usually a set or 2 on eBay.

I’ve lowered mine on Eibach springs and Monroe shocks.
