I hope to know more over the weekend if my compression tester is delivered, but I've got an endoscope in my van to enable me to have a look inside the engine.

Might have a bit of fun with the endoscope later too =))=))

Up early this morning to make some space in the garage. Found my diagnostic leads for my laptop and am also kitted out with a brand new compression tester, mind you for £10, I don't know how good it's going to be.

Back indoors now with a cuppa and settling down to watch All Blacks v Lions

Agree - there's people all over the planet desperately waiting to know if they should rejoice that things can be sorted.
 
It would appear he isn't teasing us @gookah as he hasn't come back yet and it's 4 hours since he was settling for the rugby :)

Head gasket

No1 cylinder nice and clean, little fuel residue from me turning it over
No2 cylinder very oily piston face OK
No3 cylinder piston face looks like toasted cheese
No4 cylinder piston face looks like toasted cheese
No5 cylinder very oily, piston face OK
No6 cylinder nice and clean, little fuel residue as in No1

Too much work to refurbish the current engine, so will ask my son if he wants it for a project.

If not, I'll break it for the good bits and then start looking for another car
