Last night, myself & Mrs Eddie were at the NEC to bear witness to the very last live performance by the originators of heavy metal, the mighty Black Sabbath.

They were on top form for their home crowd, performing songs from their early years, none of which were later than 1976.

For a man of 68 and for all the abuse he has dealt himself, surprisingly Ozzy's vocals were spot on, although he tended to dodder around the stage rather than run! He did play the classic buffoon during Iron Man when he knocked his mic off the stand, laughing he turned towards Tony Iommi, which produced a disgusted headshake from the guitarist.

The end of an era, the like of which I doubt we will ever witness again.

Saw them head lining download last year and Ozzy was absolutely rubbish which is a shame as it's the last time I will ever see him live.
Saw him several times growing up and always loved it, but they all come to an end. Like you say it's amazing he's still alive after the amount of abuse he's given his body.

What fantastic photos :p
Thanks for sharing ;)

TBH Dave, I preferred the 2 albums they did in the early eighties with Ronnie Dio, that's what got me into the heavy stuff. Then of course I had to buy the back catalogues of Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rainbow etc.
I was never a big fan of Ozzy's especially after seeing his drunken solo performance at Monsters of Rock in 1984 where he was practically bottled off stage. But revisiting Sabbath's early stuff a few years ago gave me a new respect for the raw sound that is somehow missing from most of today's over produced tosh.

Now Ronnie Dio, what a legend! A man taken far to early.

Yeah, Rainbow had some great singers from Joe Lyn Turner, Lincolnshire's very own Graham Bonnet and the peerless Ronnie James Dio the best of the bunch by a country mile.

Bloody hell, that's a blast from the past, thought they were great at the time.
Blackmore has reformed Rainbow. They did one UK show last year at the NEC that sold out in minutes. They are doing a number of shows this year. The new singer has a bit of a Dio tinge in his voice.
