Was on the A34 in light traffic and noticed the VW in front of me had a flat rear tyre, not fully flat but getting there. A few more miles more and I think it would have disintegrated - particularly at the speed he was doing. When I first noticed we were doing 50, so I assumed he knew and was doing the run flat thing. That said once the traffic cleared he went up to over 80, so I changed my mind on that.
Didn't want to flash the guy as there was no where safe for him to pull over at that point, and flashing headlights would have just been interpreted as impatience. After about 3 miles keeping up with him I managed to get alongside at him and wave to get his attention.
There isn't a hand signal in the highway code for this, but somehow mouthing "flat tyre" and pointing downwards he figured something was up. He slowed down and dropped to the inside lane then came off at the next exit. Job done!
