Deja Vu.....Oh Bu**er!!!

Thanks for that Mark, problem is , that no one seems to know what colour the engine bays are. My car is Arctic Silver but have no idea what the slam plate colour is …. Other than it’s definitely not Arctic Silver.

Halfords used to make up arseole cans for you. I've have several over the years and always a good colour match. There is also a trade bodywork shop in Lincoln who make them up too. I have also bought off eBay from Ireland also very good.

Tony.

ps. Just seen your reply above posted as I was typing Malc. Is the slam panel gloss finish?

I thought they were the base colour without any of the gloss added. You could try ordering a custom can in matt and test it on a scrap panel.

Try asking Robert @mrscalex he is well up on under bonnet colours etc. he may know.

Tony.

It’s definitely a Matt finish. I suppose I could cut a piece off the damaged one to send off for matching ????

Someone was discussing this recently, might've been Niall, @Nodzed. Not sure if his ///M would be Artic Sliver though?

Tony.

The engine bay paint was discussed some time ago by @Martin Sullivan , he successfully found the right paint:

thank you Dom.
Just looked at the thread and saw a link to an Australian website. Looked on that and found the Dupint colour code for the under hood, so that’s a starting point!!!!

Another piece in the jigsaw sorted today.
The correct wheel arch liner turned up, so sent back the wrong one.

I have found a company in Portsmouth that mix automotive paint and supply in aerosols, so emailed them with the information I have so far , but also in easy reach if I need to take a sample to them.

EDIT 4pm.........Spoke to them and all positive....taking a sample down on friday and should have the colour matched paint next week. £6.00 for a colour match and £13.00 per 400ml Aerosol can.......a lot cheaper that I have been quoted for someone to spray it for me.

And the headlight unit mod.......the blanking is not a breakout part as I first thought. I think its where the original mould was modified to blank off the side light hole.
But careful drilling and filing sorted it. I think I was just lucky when I tried to break it out on the test unit and it just happened to break around the cutout slots

Side light fitted, so all good.

Quoted on the fog light trim plates.......£15.00 ea.....what a rip off!!!!
That means the two larger ones I still have from the old bumper that don’t fit now, must be worth £30.00 each.

On the under bonnet paint, best to take car to a paint factor and have them "read" the paint and supply.

Wilco did an excellent job supplying me the paint. I’ve gone back several times for cans and they’ve all matched very well.
The DuPont paint code wasn’t much help to me. I supplied the paint code from the under bonnet label, along with a short chat with the guys in Wilco and I had what I needed.

Sorted out the paint which should be ready to collect sometime this week.....they needed a sample to match so took this

Which left the car looking a bit sorry for itself......and I seem to remember it was looking like this not too long ago

Express Paints in Portsmouth. Only just down the road from me, so easier to drop off the old slam plate for them to colour match. And with a few other bits, the two 400ml aerosols of matched paint came to £35.00.
Just waiting for a call from them to collect.

One thing that I did notice today, and would be grateful for any info on this......

I am swapping the old damage front bumper for a later facelift one. ( will have an extra pair of sidelights , one set in the headlights and a set on the bumper =)) )........Anyway, I noticed on the bumper today that there is a large hole exactly where the arch liner connects....

On the prefacelift bumper there are two small holes .......so is there something that clips in to the large hole ?.
I can use a large washer to get over it until I can get a better solution, but I would like to know what do facelift cars use to hold the arch liner here?

Now that made me curious. As my facelift Zed's jacked up at the moment I had to take a closer look but... nothing to be seen. Either I've lost the missing parts (on both sides though, would be too much of a coincidence if you ask me) or there simply doesn't exist anything that clips in to that hole.

And I thought I know my Zed inside out.
Someone needs to solve that mystery!

That’s who I bought my epoxy and colour-coded rattles from when I did my sills. Good guys.

Did you get these @Mazza today? Wondering if the place you used will mix some for me if they still have your colour mix details.
