Guys, I have been cruising all morning in glorious sunshine giving my dashcam a test only to find that I can't upload them to my laptop, the files are AVI and I don't seem to have anything that will play them, what do I need, cheers

The make is ARAS but its chinese so will probably go under other names, I took a few short clips in the house and they play ok but the big files won't load.
Are you taking the card out or plugging the camera into the PC mate. Some of the cheaper ones you need to plug the camera in and it will load the programme onto your PC. At least that's what I've found. Window media player works with all my cameras and on Shirl's laptop too.

Plugging the camera in mate, I'm not sure why the vids I took in the house work but the bigger files won't, I'll look into it some more.

@Sean d You may find that the files are corrupt i had a couple of the cheaper Chinese dashcams and the files were usually unplayable. You also usually need a quality SD Card. I moved to the dearer Dashcam as i got fed up of either bad files or the laptop just not playing the files since i got my Dodd i have never had any issues at all
I've sorted the issue, It appears that the USB cable I was using is faulty and kept losing connection so the files could not upload to the laptop, I now have them and I'm quite pleased with what I got, next question is, how do I get them on Utube, thanks for the advice guys, also what software do I need to edit them.

Most of the editing software you have to pay for. I use Idoo Video Editor/ To upload to utube you need to creat an account and then just click download and set to public, when the download has finished just click on the video url and copy and past into a thread
Not quite, you need to "upload" to YouTube. It can be a quite lengthy process, be warned.

I've got about 500m of copper cable that runs through the farmers field then up the road to the "super fast" wifi box 
Its now at 28% with 2.26 hours to go, and its even the one I wanted to upload.
