Been left on my own this weekend as Sarah has gone on the pub next-door annual cultural trip to Blackpool (hic). So ive had a go at making a sort of apple thing. We have a bumper crop of apples this year and son in law has some lovely honey .so here it comes im sharing this as it has actually worked.
Get some apples peeled and cored dip them in caster sugar and stick them in a frying pan pretty hot for a couple of mins till the sugar melts but not burns
For alcohol i used a armeretto ( diserano) but rum or brandy would be ok but the almond flavour goes well .a good old slop .
Half a block of unsalted butter
I poured about half a cup of honey maybe a bit more cooking in the pan for about 8-10 mins
Then i had a roll of flaky pastry that was only a little out of date rolled it out and coverd tge mix in the pan double thickness around the edge.
Put the pan in the oven and cooked for sbout 15-20 mins.its done yum.

How about some local Miller cider;) Love the stuff next to Ale.
Therein lies a story my mate in the village who builds shepherd huts has an apple press so we made cider, wine and a sort of freeze concentrate alcohol that was deceptively evil. The taste was pleasing and moreish but unfortunatly it had an amnesiac affect that came on suddenly you also lost control of you limbs. We made a batch for the wine walk that we have in the village to raise money for local causes .So much chaos ,so many angry wives ,so many embarrassing stories and so many sore heads.that was 3 years ago we’re thinking we might try another batch this year .time clouds the memories;)

Did you wear you wife's little kitchen pinny cloth while doing that @miller1098?
And more importantly, should you have not been out playing on your tractor?

Sounds as though that needs to be commercialised to me Hugh.

Tony.
