Cleaning threshold strips???

I have removed the original already the replacement is on a thin plastic strip so I’m thinking I shal be using double sided tape or bonding. It’s very much suck it and see

I would try carpet tape Craig it's very thin and sticks well. You could roll out a length and place it backing side down on a ta ble (sticky dide up) place you trim onto it and trim round. Then when ready remove the backing tape and apply to the sill step.

Tony.

Thanks Tony good idea we have something similar to carpet tape we use at work for badges & trims etc. Surprisingly it’s found it’s way to my garage

I'll be interested to know how it works Craig.

I'm a bit confused mate, did you buy the strip with the decal on it, I thought you where just getting the decals made, looks good though
The graphics company put the decals onto the plastic strip. I’ve removed the original aluminium strip and quickly placed the replacement on to the sill cover, it’s looks good I think. I’ll be doing them over the weekend when I’ve repainted the sill covers. I’ll then clear cost the whole assembly I’ll attach some images as I go along

I’ve removed the original aluminium strips, cleaned and flatted off the sill covers and attached the replacement with double sided tape. The plastic strip the decals are fixed to are thicker than the original so sit slightly proud of the sill covers and the plastic the graphics company used is white. Therefore I had to mask the decal to paint the edge in black. Once fitted I clear voted the whole sill cover along with the decal. I’m pleased with the results, however, they are clearly not original so maybe not for the purists amongst us

Lenny the replacements are vinyl decals on a thin plastic strip that sit a couple of millimetres higher than the original aluminium
Craig

The originals on mine were in poor condition. They are a thin aluminium strip with roadster and the stripe embossed into the aluminium. I tried flatting with fine grade paper and polishing, however, I wasn’t satisfied with the outcome. Therefore decided to go with the decals.

It,s a very old thread, but I will reply to it anyway in case anyone else has an issue with these. I had the same thing on my NA. I do not have any pictures of the fix, that also involved decals I'm sorry, however I do have pictures of a more recent project that I used dissimilar silvers to mimic an embossed look. I will be using a similar method to reproduce my goosed ones on lexan strips, back layered, for scuff resistance and longevity. I,ll post it up once I get started... And happily share the cut files.... Of course passenger and drivers side can be different, on my Mazda drivers side was "Roadster" passengers was "Sit Down and Hang on" =))..

Hi . Just wondered if you could share those files. Interested in making some decals myself. Thanks
