Clarkson

It's always easier to slap some one than to walk away ;)
Sometimes it's just a reaction , but what ever did the other person say to Clarkson to get him that wound up .
Let them get on with playing their silly games ;)

I't likely wouldn't have happened if they weren't drinking...

Aaahhhh ;)
Didn't know they were drinking :)

They had been drinking the whole afternoon. There's so many facts we don't know. Boys will be boys!

the bbc have scrapped 6 programs from the arts .because they cannot afford to make them .
top gear paid with its earnings to make other programs like these .
they would let all that go because some one threw a hand bag

I don't get this argument. First of all, the BBC is not a commercial organisation and should not be in the business of profit making. Secondly, and probably more importantly Clarkson wouldn't have had time to put his coat on if he had assaulted another member of staff in the commercial world. In my view he should not be permitted to work under the BBC's programme network at all!

I cant help but feel some people have a great "dislike" for Clarkson, yeah he's an arrogant ass but he's a great entertainer and keeps reminding us about the freedom of speech that we used to have in this country (within reason). After all we are only human and no one is perfect, another example of this is an idle of mine. Winston Churchill, where would we be as a nation now without this man he had an alcohol and drug addiction but still achieved many greats and he was not by far perfect. So he gave someone a slap for getting gobbie have we really got that soft as a society.

Another fact that boggles my mind is they had all been drinking for the majority of the day when the incident happened, now I've been a government worker the majority of my adult life and I know for a fact we have a 0% tolerance on alcohol in working hours. How does this differ working for the BBC? were they even in working hours?

I don't dislike Clarkson but comparing him to Churchill ?send your children to school and tell them if someone gets gobby give them a slap?the alcohol bit I totaly agree :)

The only reports I've seen about alcohol suggest it was Clarkson on the booze (Rose wine in the hotel after filming to be precise) and no one else.

......................And it's no excuse.

I haven't seen anywhere either where anyone other than Clarkson was being in anyway 'gobby'. Certainly the eye-witnesses who were interviewed by local TV only mentioned him being heard.

If not being able to organise the food you want in a restaurant is a good reason for hitting someone, we're all in trouble.

I haven't read the full story on what happened unfortunately. I cant see it being over something so trivial. There has to be more to it. The media will feed you what they want you to know.

Miller I was taught exactly that by my dad but not quite in that context.

I was taught the opposite.and that's what I taught my children, once or twice they got "assaulted" for being "gobby"and didn't retaliate ,it was the other child that got in trouble, his parents called in,had a record and hopefully learned it not right to hit anyone.

I was taught never to be the aggressor but to stand up for yourself don't be bullied. While growing up this has served me very well. I have never started a fight and never will but I will always end one.

Like I was saying earlier in and ideal world with no violence I wouldn't need to adopt this attitude But we are far from that. I like feel comfortable that where ever I go I can look after myself and my partner and not feel threatened.

Maybe you should before stating that "they had all been drinking the whole afternoon" or "for majority of the day, fact".

.................I repeat, it doesn't excuse him.

There's no doubt where they can the media will dramatise any and every event into something it may not have been but if I were Clarkson and I was reading stories about me that weren't true my Twiiter account would be putting those stories straight, his doesn't contradict any of them. He does make light of the events but doesn't seek to correct anything other than something (report I can't find) the Liverpool Echo wrote.

Someone's being pedantic.....

Maybe you ignored my second statement:

0% tolerance on alcohol in working hours. How does this differ working for the BBC? were they even in working hours?

I do totally agree an action such as this cannot be excused or tolerated.

I'm simply trying to say I bet their is more to this whole situation then the media lets onto.[/QUOTE]
