So got on with fitting the leds today....

Took out the glovebox and the plastic pieces from the footwells.

Quite tidy and after removing some tape found the brown/black wire from pin 4 on the black plug. (Interior light feed)
Worked our the best positions and drilled :arghh: the plastic covers.

To get the wire across from drivers side to passenger side I used some earth wire and just pulled it back without any problem at all.

Then reassembled drivers side and got on to sorting out the connections
Basically soldered and sleeved the two positives and together with an additional single wire to make the contact to the brown black wire, and the same way for the negatives but used a ring crimp on the end to fix to a convenient earth point ( which was a screw on the metalwork just to the left of the blue connector in the photo. I buzzed it out first to ensure it was earthed )

That just left fixing some cable ties to tidy up the wiring and put the glove box back.

And the result...

Pretty much exactly what I did Malc. The only difference were my LEDs were self adhesive so no drilling of the footwell plastics for me. Great job, looks great:thumbsup:

I really loved the way James May described these blank switch panels. He described it as the manufacturers / societies way of reminding you daily what a failure your life is. How you cannot afford the the improved model where the switches had real function.
