No problem Jonco keep me posted but not sure that I will understand but nephew will when I can get hold of him. He is a busy man running his own engineering company and being the chairman of Bisley nshooting club which is his other passion and keeps him very tied up,

We have the BMTechnics version - @gookah has newer BM Cables and facelift car (I think). A few years ago I had a conversation with Chris of now defunct BM Technics on the M3cutters site and he said that for Instrument Cluster, an some other modules, on their version and pre-facelift car you needed ADS interface and RS232 serial port. I may still be able to access conversation - I'll check.

Sorry didn't know that - have you asked BM cables for an explanation/reason?

You'll be lucky to get any sort of answer from them regarding anything you might feel is lacking in their system. They didn't reply to me after I sent numerous emails to them to find out why I couldn't access the ABS module on my car.

I sorted it eventually, but not through my diagnostic kit

@Geoff Crispin - I'm having a central locking problem too - driver door won't lock electronically - the off-side one does and so does the boot. Both doors and boot open and lock on key insert. I am looking at the option of replacing the actuator in the driver side door.

I would agree that the actuator needs replacing in you case.

Thank you @Brian H - after reading previous advice - I checked and there was no electrical activity when manually opening the inner driver door lever and pushing the door pin down when door was closed. Is it an easy replacement for a novice like me?

Would it be a faulty actuator rather than a failed one - if there can be such a distinction?

My central locking system is fully functional again @Geoff Crispin after reporting that the driver side wouldn't open or close with the remote. I had the hardtop disengaged to lubricate the seals prior to reporting the fault and was wondering if the movement of the top would have affected its operation?

Yesterday took item out of boot and locked all from boot. On return put key in drivers door and only that and boot opened. Got home opened and shut boot locked from boot only passenger door and boot locked> I am totally confused as to what needs doing to correct this.

Problems sorted replaced both door actuators, did a permanent repair to two broken wires , reprogrammed two fobs and all working as it should. The intermittent fault was caused by the actuators not working all the time so binned. Geoff

Actuators are a very common issue Geoff. Glad you finally got it sorted out.

Tony.
