Central locking problems

Lovely hot sunny day but when I phoned my wife Pat at 5pm to say that I was leavin she said that very black clouds had come over, so barbi. Sun came out about 7.30 but a bit to late. How was yours ?
Show was very good, back for day two to morrow with Somerset Triumphs, last year there were 12 of us,had lots of admirers to day.

The only wires that may be affected are the white 1.5 and the Blue/Grey 1.5 but I honestly do not think this is the problem, I am fairly confident (whilst sat a few hundred miles away on the end of a keyboard :))that you have an actuator issue.
Hi Brian
Still have not got round to sorting this problem, but do you know what is involved in getting at the actuator as I see that there are a couple for sale

............. but do you know what is involved in getting at the actuator ........
Straightforward procedure but a bit fiddly - door card off, liner membrane off then it's basically unplug components. Note orientation of link rods before you disconnect them - saves some head scratching on which way they go back in.

Good info Colin, always wise to take pictures with your phone too Geoff.

I used to be able to commit to memory - now I need photos to put it back together

Just call it a teaching aid mate!=))

I had exactly this issue on my previous 99 2.8. Passenger door actuator was faulty. Oddly it always seems to be the passenger side that fails from what I've seen and read. When you disassemble the actuator from the lock mechanism definitely take photos. It has a strange orientation which had me scratching my head for a few minutes.

Still have not got round to sorting out this problem and just use the key on both locks, but yesterday when out I needed to lock it up so before I got out pushed the button down on passenger door and drivers door locks, unlock drivers door (passenger door still locked, got out and locked drivers door with key which also closed the boot. On my return to car drivers door unlocked with key, drove home, got out locked drivers door which also closed boot but forgot items on passenger seat so put key in passenger door but would not unlock, so went to drivers door that also would not unlock. Em what do I do know ? put key in boot which unlocked but doors stayed locked, put key in drivers door and it unlocked same with passenger door.
Has anyone got any ideas what is going on with my locks and is there anyone not to far away that could help sort this out.
Also my central locking is still not working and need help to sort that. My nephew was going to come down from Guilford to do it but since starting his own engineering business he has not had the time. Anyone in a position to assist please ?? Geoff

Passenger door actuator?

That was said when I first had problems with locking but could it be connections or intermitent working problems ?

Have you actually tried it? I understand the "loom of doom" can also play the central locking up.

It could be an intermittent fault on the nearside door solenoid then?

Tony.

Wires in the loom of doom repared and got working nearly right but not on passenger door

All locks have started to lock and unlock using the key in passenger door ? Any more ideas ? door actuator or wire connections do you think ? Geoff

Hi gookah
no only some times the drivers door
I would double check the loom. the boot actuator should send 12v on the unlock or lock circuit through to the other doors.
There should be a permanent 12v to the actuator also, that goes via the boot harness.

Yes I hope to get some time to work on it next week and will have another look at to loom of doom and report back.
Dont want to have to remove door panel if there is no need to.
